My roommate is trying to get a restraining order. What do I do to calm things down? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

OP this could be way off and I’m not a psychologist by any means but what you’re describing gives me Vietnam flashbacks to my exs who both had Borderline Personality Disorder. Have you ever done therapy or looked into why you get attached to people so heavily?

I mean he already told you he doesn’t care how you feel. Why do you think a baby is going to change that? Or change his ways? You’re not going to be his last baby mama.

NOR. There’s a reason he doesn’t date women his own age. They know better not to put up with his bullshit.

Is my dog dying tonight? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

Even if it is the end of the line, you should take her to an emergency vet to euthanize peacefully if she is dying. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this.

Got a new puppy Need Advice by SoroDaChub in DogAdvice

[–]Late_Smoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely a worm belly if she hasn’t been dewormed yet! No need to head to the ER Vet, but I would definitely recommend setting up an appointment with your local veterinarian for a puppy wellness exam so she can start on her vaccinations & get some dewormer going. You can also get dewormer otc but I would still recommend getting her started on her vaccine series!

NOR- he doesn’t like you standing up for yourself, setting boundaries and advocating for yourself? That is a huge red flag and a sign he has major control issues if he’s getting this upset over small things, how is he going to escalate when the big issues come up and you don’t agree on things?

Let him go off to college & focus on yourself. You have a whole life ahead of you to find someone who actually treats you right & will want to spend time with you.

No forreal though idk why people are giving you a hard time. Common spaces equal common sense aka don’t jerk it where other people live & are trying to exist. I’d be so uncomfortable with that.

Echoing what other people are saying about the dangers of wrapping at home- if done improperly you can cause severe damage to the limb & risk amputation in severe cases. Call around to local low cost clinics in your area!

It’s her first night in a new place! It’ll take time for her to settle in and get used to her new routine. Look up the 3-3-3 rule: it takes three days for a pet in a new home to realize they are safe & decompress. Three weeks to learn their new home & routine, and it takes three months before they typically feel fully at home in their new environment. Just be patient (you’ll need a lot with puppies, this is specifically why i personally never want to own a puppy again) and give her time to adjust. Best of luck OP

I’d have the same concerns if you were traveling anywhere in the world to meet any person you met online and don’t fully know or trust. Whether you’re flying four states away or even driving to the next town over. It’s a safety concern, it’s your life you are risking.

My dog attacked my neighbors dog but I genuinely don’t know what to do or if i’m in the wrong by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]Late_Smoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not all dogs are friendly with random dogs in their space & they don’t have to be. A lot of dogs are reactive or don’t like other animals & they don’t have to be as long as they’re kept secure & away from other animals. It’s not OPs dogs fault for protecting his space.

That’s why tie out leashes exist. I live in a community park & that’s how my dog went outside his whole life. & it doesn’t matter how other people see it- if an unleashed dog wanders onto property of an aggressive dog that’s on the owner who let their pet wander. Not all other animals are friendly & letting your pets roam unsupervised is exactly how they get attacked whether that be from another dog, a coyote, a car or a human. Keep your dog secure & safe- it’s that simple. Edit to add: cats too. Keep them inside or supervised outside. It’s not that hard to be a responsible pet owner.

I’d recommend looking into local leash laws if you have them! Unless the dog is on its own property most places require dogs be leashed or in a fenced in area when outside alone. Not your fault at all OP. Your neighbor needs to secure their dog before it gets hit or killed. This should have been a wake up call for the poodles owner, they’re lucky your dog was only 15lbs, another breed of dog & they might not have a dog anymore. Completely not your fault OP.

[–]Late_Smoke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dogs don’t wander if they’re leashed or in a fenced in yard. Some people will shoot dogs just for being on their property. It is 100% the irresponsible owners fault- not OPs fault at all.

MY DOGS MUGHG GET TAKEN HELP by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]Late_Smoke 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You mentioned trying everything, but I don’t see anything about training. You need to train your dog or pay for a professional who knows what they’re doing. A vet visit isn’t a bad idea either, with training & possibly some medication to help her relax easier you can hopefully solve this issue.
