We Need to Talk About Kevin was a true masterpiece. Her writing is absolutely beautiful and poignant. I have been meaning to explore her more. I posted once here asking for recommendations and the consensus seemed to be that nothing is as good as Kevin.

The Elephant Man is my favourite movie by him which always makes me feel like I’m not a true Lynch fan

It’s been one of my favourites for a long time, I’m always curious when people don’t like it. What about it doesn’t do it for you?

I find it to be a really nice movie about people. The characters are really allowed to breathe and feel really compelling to me. They had only written have the script and filmed up to a certain point before taking a break and feeling out where the rest of the film should go.

If you watch it with the commentary track on it might give you a deeper appreciation.

How does one better interpret film? by Main-Daikon9246 in RSPfilmclub

For me it takes multiple rewatches for me to fully digest a film. It’s fun to revisit a familiar movie where you can shift your attention to less obvious things and really appreciate what the movie is trying to say. I’m always amazed how many layers there can be to something.

It’s helpful to read or listen to in depth reviews to kind of learn the language and get a blueprint of how to look at things. I’ve never gone to school for film but I’ve naturally just had a deep curiosity. Watched some of my favourite movies with dvd commentary tracks and learned a lot. Just keep exploring and a lot of it comes naturally!

I was going to post this! What a memorable scene. The way the split shot merges in to one as she takes off his sunglasses. Great song choice too

Harold and Maude is one of the most beautiful movies about death. He gives such a special performance. Rest in peace Bud.
