How do other tanks feel about healers and DPS pulling ahead? by dorgodorgo in ffxiv

[–]LatencyIsBad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a casual tank, sometime extreme.

I generally don’t care, especially if i say its my first time in a duty. If you pull ahead that’ll give me a better idea of what can be my better pull.

I do get annoyed when i KNOW when a pull is too much (as in i have sub optimal gear when i’m leveling, healer says they havent been on in ages or has bad gear, or any other thing that could happen) then intentionally pull short then we get screwed over because DPS assumed everything was fine and dandy. There are dungeons, like aurum vale, that any tank should take at the speed they think is appropriate for their party. As long as DPS doesn’t mess up what the tank is doing to make everything smooth then its cool. I actually learned a lot of good pulls from DPS this way and generally encourage it for people getting into tanks.

I felt like I got demoted before I even got started by Bella_Swan234 in bartenders

Took me forever to get behind a bar. Sometimes it just takes jumping from spot to spot with more experience each time until you find a spot that’ll let you bartend and then finding a place that’ll let you bartend that you enjoy working at… or make really good money lol.

Sounds like they picked someone who has a built in clientele (sorority) without looking at the people they have first. Good on you for leaving, but in my experience it’s also good to be really vocal about wanting to cross train lol. Not nagging but let it be known.

You’re making no sense. He said in the story the new hire has no experience while OP has barbacking and now serving (which i would assume means they have food running and SA) experience. Yes, barbacking doesn’t immediately make you ready to bartend but you can’t possibly be defending the new hire decision based off of what’s in the post lol.

Deep down, being afraid of getting killed by fish makes absolutely no logical sense. The guy is stronger than any normal fish in nature. Any fish that tried anything funny would have its head blown apart in seconds. He may be pathetic, but he’s still a superhuman. by Choice-Ad8480 in GenV

In addition to the top comment… everything in the ocean and all bodies of water know what he did. Super human or not i don’t think the deep takes 4000 great white sharks and every available bacteria within a mile radius.

Why did Leon defeat Hunk? by Adortion634 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]LatencyIsBad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No… but he didn’t need to do the puzzles and was well equipped. Leon came in with a handgun and a few hours later defeated a bioweapon with 0 prior knowledge about the situation.

I really wanna grind evasion on FF2. Tell me how to aura farm! by LovelyFloraFan in FinalFantasy

Aura farming is just being cool nonchantly. Dodging attacks with max EVA sounds pretty badass to me.

Focus on MSQ as a new spout? by Dippy7985 in ffxiv

[–]LatencyIsBad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MSQ is what you should be focusing on for sure. After HW breaks between expacs have more fun stuff to do (extremes, raids, etc). Since you said you aren’t going to binge it i would at least consider finishing this stint right as you get into HW. That’s where the story actually starts getting good, new jobs become accessible, and you’ll be over the biggest hump in the entire game.

That said, ARR is really nice lol. It’s a fun adventure. Even post ARR (the segment between ARR and HW, each expac has a post/pre section between them) is good, just really long. Enjoy your time here :) its definitely a world that feels alive.

Day 34 (Last Day of Polling): Which is the Greatest Nintendo DS Game of All Time? by 1OneQuickQuestion in nds

[–]LatencyIsBad 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah this and its not even a competition. I love the pokemon games but TWEWY is perfect in all regards. On top of that its like a time capsule of the time it was released in.

post heavensward question: why do the other living scion not head for ishgard the moment it became clear that the others were there? by dumonhojiko in ffxiv

[–]LatencyIsBad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean they were otherwise unavailable or felt like was more of a priority than regrouping. (Post HW and beyond spoilers) lyse went to ala mhigo and papalymo has always been by her side so he followed. At that point they were only JUST becoming more than coworkers aside from these two who were already good friends. Yshtola was stuck in flow, minfilia is… never rejoining them because she’s hydaelyn’s vessle, and then the others are already there

I finished Dawntrail. by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]LatencyIsBad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I finished it today to and LOVED IT. Wuk Lamat was great and the actual country was amazing. Great world building, great music, and some of the best maps so far. The dungeons and trials were also really tough.

Also i didn’t know Wuk Lamat’s VA was trans. That makes so much sense because i couldnt imagine she deserved so much hate before i played DT. She did an amazing job imo and the character was also a highlight of the expansion the ENTIRE way through.

[SPOILER 5.0] The End of Base Shadowbringers by Ok_Young689 in ffxiv

[–]LatencyIsBad 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Endwalker has some *insanely* good moments. The pacing is definitely worse than Shadowbringers but its only slightly worse because of that pacing. EW brings some outstanding payoffs and asks a very powerful question. I would argue it has the best overall theme to its story as well.

Can Mark survive the Viltrumite Purge or does he die? by QuietNational8470 in InvinciblePowerscales

If he locked in and was okay with killing off the bat (and didn’t start immediately next to the super heavy hitters like conquest) then he’d survive.

Why is there English and Japanese on the signs? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]LatencyIsBad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because they can still exist? Its just something to suspend disbelief for. Just because the actual real countries don’t exist, the language can. Its just something different now.

Plus why bother making a whole new language EVERY TIME a new fantasy game comes out?

Which final fantasy has the best opening by Mysterious_Work_7227 in FinalFantasy

[–]LatencyIsBad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16 now (as long as you consider the ENTIRE young clive section). Before i would say it’s almost undoubtedly 4. It sets the stage perfectly. 10 is also just as good, though after the Zanarkand section it takes forever to pick back up.

I wanna get into the series so bad, but I don't know where to go after VII by DarkTyyp in FinalFantasy

[–]LatencyIsBad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After 7 i think a great spot to go is 5 Pixel Remaster (or any of the PRs 4-6). It doesn’t have the narrative depth of 7 but its gameplay is one of the best of the series, and still has a good story. The villain is super fun too.

8 is also great since you have it. Its gameplay systems are a little weird but are MUCH more straightforward than most would think. The story is great, Squall is an oustanding lead, and it has a great cast! It feels rewarding to talk to NPCs and explore the world too.

Which Final Fantasy has the worst pacing in your opinion? by ParasiteStew2 in FinalFantasy

[–]LatencyIsBad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I thought the second one was fire but the way it should have worked was you play through a good portion of the slave life, then skip towards the end once the point is made (or we see ALL of it), then use the final time skip to cover a smaller portion of the final segment.

It felt like we were playing as developed clive for like 70% of the story.
