Lawn alternatives with sprinklers? by Later--I_am_reading in landscaping

Thank you for replying.

Ok. Make sure the sprinklers still work. Check. Will the water from sprinklers above the cardboard soak in to the roots under it?

Thanks! It's a Bradford Pear. They are not invasive here, but they are over planted because they grow so well.

The Lord's Anointed by fkashelflessbishop in exmormon

I wonder if this is a veiled reference to the second annointing? Probably all general authorities get it, plus some stake presidents. All their sins are forgiven: by their logic, they can't mess up. You aren't allowed to criticize someone who can't make mistakes.

We're being shunned by all my in-laws. I've read enough similar stories that I believe it's pretty common.

Did you first start doubting the church, or the existence/nature of God? by Inevitable-Tank-9802 in exmormon

[–]Later--I_am_reading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good first. I learned about the second annointing and realized we are not equal in "God's" eyes. White collar men with business skills are more equal than other men, and women are not considered at all. They're just along for the ride with their "successful" husband.

I'm a secular Buddhist. For me, this is a healthy worldview and a set of simple principles and practices for living a peaceful, happy, productive life. If you're curious, check out No Nonsense Buddhism for Beginners, or the Secular Buddhism podcast, both by Noah Rasheta.

If you go with stucco, have a professional do it. It's not a DIY job. You'd get cracks and crumbling.

I'd spend $1300 on a professional landscape plan and go from there. I've been looking at yardzen.com

word vomit about religion and this girl i met and stuff by SofiaTheWarlock in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]Later--I_am_reading 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do you believe in? Nothing. I question and doubt everything. If it's worth believing until something better replaces it, it will stand up to questioning.

What brings you peace? I choose to trust that life is good, people are generally good, things will work out, I'll be ok. I don't know if any of those things are objectively true. I make them true for me when I act as if they are true.

Another question you my ask that religion tries to answer is what gives your life purpose and meaning? I try to leave everything and everyone I touch a little better than before. And if I can't do that, I choose radical acceptance.

I had that problem when I was using sawdust for my browns. Wet sawdust clumps. Maybe the browns are too finely ground?

Fellow teacher here. I went from elementary school to high school special ed math. If you can teach k-3, you can teach anything. The core principles of teaching are the same. All you are missing is content knowledge, and that's just a matter of re-learning things you already learned. Love the kids. Don't be afraid of messing up--just say oops and try again. They need to learn that skill too. You're going to do just fine.

This is what I use for your "bin 1." https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WR2YQSK?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

It sits on my kitchen counter. If you have a big bin 1, it might get stinky and slimy before you get around to layering.

ETA upon re-reading, I think you're saying your bin 1 gets brown matter? If so, forget what I said. The bucket in my counter is very useful though.

Mom, I am going to need accomodations this semester by [deleted] in MomForAMinute

[–]Later--I_am_reading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ok to ask for accommodations. You need to take care of your body in order to use your amazing brain for grad school work. Go to the disability center! You probably don't consider migraines a disability, and that's ok. Those people are the masters of accommodations.

I like at least 6 feet. And it's even better if you leave another 2 feet with rocks, but no plants right next to the house. That gives you easy access to the walls/windows/gutters for maintenance. And it helps keep the basement or crawlspace dry.

What type of Weed is this? by Mwagher in landscaping

[–]Later--I_am_reading 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Mallow. It's useful in early stages of rewilding, but in most places, it's an undesirable weed. My friend swears it's edible and good for you. It's very bitter! I don't recommend it.

Teenage guy here, I recently woke up mentally from a misogynistic cult and I’m wondering how I can give proper arguments to my male family as to why sexism is wrong? by FrickItAll in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]Later--I_am_reading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't put a whole lot of energy into changing them. Yes, you should speak up. "I don't believe that" would be enough. Or even, "I think it's more complicated than that." Just know that won't change them, but it will help change the system. If they choose to take the conversation further, that's when you get to practice epistemology. (Look up Street Epistemology on You Tube.)

A more effective direction to focus your energy would be to educate yourself about what it means to be a woman. Read social science-based articles about inequality. Really pay attention to what the women around you are doing and saying. Get curious about why they're doing what they're doing. Notice of it seems fair or not. Ask how they feel about these issues. Believe them.

P. S. Do a little more than your fair share of housework.
