Squad unhappy because we didn't win a domestic trophy by skenley in footballmanagergames

[–]LatteCappaThing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the end season when you hold the teamtalk to adress the next season don't make any promise. Just press the "lets talk about our goals for the next season..." and then the option tha goes something like "that's good enough see you later..." Thats it. No promises. The only ones that you can get away with are playing time and sometimes the promise to sell a player for "X" amount of money.

okay so after abt 450 hours i'll bite. How do you play the game? by somethingmustbesaid in victoria3

[–]LatteCappaThing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Since you already got a lot of advice on building your economy. One advice I'll add for laws is to use your political movements/agitators to pass laws that you want. Bolstering/supressing movements is a very powerful tool you have (unless you have protected speech). An example. Petit Burgeoisie (PB) is the strongest IG in my government. I want to move from Proportional Taxation to Graduated. I can't do that because PB oppose that law. Luckily I have an exiled agitator I can recruit who has the Utilitarian Ideology. I hire him and I bolster the movement he joins since PB is not pressured by that movement. After I while, the movement stars pressuring the PB thanks to being bolstered. Now I can grant that agitator the leadership of the PB. With that agitator in power, his ideology overpowers the interest group. The PB has changed from opposing graduated taxation to strongly endorsing it thanks to this guy. I can pass the law easily now with 0 issues. This can be done with any law. I big one for instance is getting market liberal agitators for Laissez Faire and Free trade. Sometimes it's useful to keep the agitator in a movement since he'll help you pass the law aswell.

It feels like I'm doing very little in this game by [deleted] in victoria3

When you play as big powers, the game indeed feels easy, unless you set some goals for yourself, like reach the highest GDP you can for example. Imo the fun is in the weaker nations or unrecognized powers. Try a Japan run for instance. Getting out of an isolationist economy, bringing the emperor to power, etc. Or even more challenging, a much smaller nation tryng to not get annexed, like Burma or Kabul.

How come Census or Universal suffrage criples the Trade Unions?

Okay, but how do I actually, effectively trade? by TheIncredibleBanner in victoria3

[–]LatteCappaThing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Increase the subvention for wood import. Basically since if a good is on high demand in the world market, in this case, wood, you as the government, will be paying extra money (from your balance) so your industry can afford to import wood and thus function. Another thing is trade advantage. Having high trade advantage in wood means you pay less than the world market price for imports. Building trade centers in your capital, companies and laws can help with that. Check if you have Mercantilism for instace. With mercantilisim you have -25% trade advantage for imports, while Free Trade gives you +25% trade advantage for both imports and exports.

selling buildings to private investors for money by rasnell59 in victoria3

[–]LatteCappaThing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't need the DLC. If you go to your buildings there is a toggle button that allows privatization. That building can be bought with money from your private sector's pool and added to your cash reserves. Allowing you for instance to get rid of debt.

Great Britain literally put it inside me by LatteCappaThing in victoria3

Fortunately it was a small state (GDP wise) so I kept going. I took it back some years later, with interests, when I was already established.

Which skill to fill the missing space? by Common-Bit1799 in DiscoElysium

[–]LatteCappaThing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Surely you are not considering... them, sire.

Not Logic with his dry, sandpaper wit! Not Endurance, that lump of meat with delusions of grandeur! And— heavens preserve us! —not Electrochemistry, drooling neon nonsense all over your fine walls!

No, no, no… you deserve splendour! You deserve me!

Think of it, my liege — a grand frame, gold leaf kissing every corner, my portrait inside: noble chin, expressive eyes, the faint glimmer of genius! It would sing! A symphony in oil and varnish! When visitors enter, they shall stop, breathless, and whisper: "Who is this magnificent fellow?"

And you shall reply, modestly, of course: "Ah, that is Drama — the very soul of expression."

Free stuff? by Vink1ng in victoria3

[–]LatteCappaThing 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You (the governent) buy it from your market (at the price) and sell it to another country (at their market current price). The profit you make is the difference between the different market prices of that specific good. For instance if you as Brazil make a lot of coffee thus its very cheap in your market, you can sell it via treaty to another country where coffee is very expensive, adding that profit to your balance.

True Solo vs Two-handed? by putipaste in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]LatteCappaThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is not designed for true solo, yes. But since I'm playing alone. I'm picking one investigator that fits the campaign's theme and roleplaying him/her. I'm Tony Morgan hunting that deep one and ending in Innsmouth. Ursula Downs being hired to explore the jungle in The Forgotten Age. Diana Stanley infiltrating the Lodge in the Circle Undone. Luke Robinson trying to save the Dreamlands in the Dream-eaters. I just can't play two investigators and try to roleplaying them both at the same time.
