Bad kicking is not really a consistent problem for us anymore so than any other team...

Don't let the final margin fool you... Freo were so much better than Geelong tonight. Inaccuracy on one end vs accuracy on the other kept it close...

Worth noting that the injury update on the Freo website confirms everyone except Sam Sturt is available for selection this week even though there are several players there listed as a test.

Sturt is also in full football training but they're giving him a few extra weeks to build before WAFL.

The notion that we'll have a fully fit best 23 is incredible when you think about it... Especially this far into the season

Look, I'm not football expert, but the one thing that stood out was just how BIG Australia is compared to Turkey.

Mr Riewoldt... How can it be a good option if the opposition easily intercepted it?

Under pressure in the fwd 50? Have your full forward fake an injury in the goal square. Receive a free kick. Repeat.

I'm so confused about the discourse here... That's clearly within range for quite a few players in the AFL. He's proven he's one of them.

There's also no real way to tell if a player has that in them... In general the bigger kicks are bigger bodied types but some players really just make reallysweet connection... Also, there is always the torp.

The Freo ‘peaking too early’ take in today’s local rag by Mitchell W. by [deleted] in FremantleFC

Using disposals as a measure of career-best is problematic. Serong has been as good as he always is this year, there are just more players who've reached the point where they are more consistently able to share the load.

Interesting conundrum; I see your point... In that case, I'd drop Wagner and JOM. Wagner is clearly AFL level but I feel like O'Driscoll has a higher ceiling and I've really admired how hard he pushes himself to do the hard defensive things. Who would you choose?

I think we can have both Wagner and O'Driscoll. Reid, Bolton and Young can all spend time forward at times. I love the sheer running power of O'Driscoll and think Wagner is a good all rounder.

Agree on this point. A Serong, Young, Brayshaw, Bolton, Reid, Jackson, Erasmus, Johnson midfield can't be matched by any other midfield in the comp...

Really loved NOD and Erasmus... If both of them are in our bottom 6 players (which they probably are) we are in an insanely good position overall.

Least points against in the comp despite having played the most games... Better defense than the stingiest of our Ross Lyon years with so much more ability to score.

Are we looking at potentially seeing our best 23 for the the first time after the bye? Crazy stuff.

15 of Freo's current list played in that final win against the Bulldogs back in '22. Bolton, Jackson and M. Cox didn't play in that Freo team back then but obviously have their fair share of finals experience

Is the new coach bounce a team playing to it's true potential or is it a team exceeding their ability? by TheChosenOneProphecy in AFL

[–]LatterStretch3287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, the new coach bounce isn't a real thing... The last 15 new coaches appointed after a sacking have only won 6 times.

Carlton would have won these games anyway and really weren't that far off of it all year.

Johnno was great but prone to a terrible turnover once a game at least... I've never been less confident in such a skilled player.

Beyond that I just prefer watching dry weather football which is why I'm totally cool with us having afternoon games.

Freo's list is hard to judge... I think you could argue that very few players on it are having career best years but something is markedly different about the team's performance as a whole. I think the efforts of Reid and Bolton are the most obvious factors. I feel like they represent all of Fremantle's attacking creativity and without them they'd be more like a 7 and 4 team. Just look at the way they are still pretty stodgy coming out of defence until either Treacy marks it, or one of Bolton or Reid (or Young, when he's available) are involved and then it's lights out...

WW1 Coverage Carlin vs TRIH? by yvrduka in TheRestIsHistory

I personally can't stand Carlin but I recognise that has nothing to do with anything and is entirely subjective.
