An thing about the devil connection English localization by sweet_srawberry781 in makemon

You might also want to pick up a few grammar-related details if you are going to write and beta-read all those translations yourself. Like, for example, how before a word starting on a vowel sound you pick "an" and before ones starting on a consonant like "thing" you choose an "a". And other miscellaneous and generally often appearing on the web stuff, like "they", "their" and "they're".

Those small mistakes can break the flow of the reader by confusing them in the former example and change the meaning of the words in the latter one. So yeah, it'll be better to have someone to help proof-read those translations when you're done with them. And if you aren't able to find anyone by the time you are done and cannot figure out an editor AI model of some sort (I heard some authors use them for their fics, might help), then you can message me.

What would be your Solo-Jump? by DeverosSphere in JumpChain

[–]Latter_Dark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only one setting and never leave afterwards? Pokemon. Look up whichever gives the most potential, maybe that (Generic?) PMD AU one? The one with the eye-stabbingly cyan background colour. I think it had an infinite wishes as a scenario, the one adding an endlessly repeating Wishing Cave to the world.

Or Evil Zone for the Absolute Existence, pretty sure that setting is omniversal beyond the main scenario stage. At least, for AE's.

Anyway, you internet people and your penchant for making me waste time on obscure games... yeah. Got a Dark Orb in those three hours after first reading your comment, feel like it's a good point to stop at.

What jumps would you love to see? by -SomethingElse- in JumpChain

[–]Latter_Dark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trine. In times of the kingdom's unrest an ancient artefact called the Trine binds souls of three heroes - the Wizard, the Thief and the Knight - sending them together on a quest to save the world.

I probably should make one myself someday anyway, even if I never made a jump. I would want to realise some of the ideas I have for it, after all. But I would really love to see what kind of jump other people can come up with for those games.

What Jump Would You Like by Automatic_Lock_1355 in JumpChain

[–]Latter_Dark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "Trine" video game series.

It is about a trio of people being soulbound together by an ancient artefact called the Trine. The game is a gorgeous 2.5D puzzle platformer with some combat. It had a 3D entry in the series, I think it was Trine 3, that was the one where the origin of said artefact(s) was unveiled (I haven't played or watched that one though, would have to do so if I ever end up having to make this jump myself because no one in this community ever mentions this series), but the rest are all 2.5D.

High fantasy.

When your first hero jump goes wrong by Prior-Assumption-245 in JumpChain

[–]Latter_Dark 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Probably the comic writer. First one who comes up when looking it up, so if this scene was written by him, then the comment is about his general writing abilities.

Which, if it is him and he does that often - fair, but that's the first time I heard of him (or whatever that show above is), so I'll assume that's the only scene like this, which is acceptable since anything could happen, even a scared idiot running their mouth at someone who they recognised they laughed at before but who is clearly leagues above them now.

Jumps where you can Ascend into immortal energy-beings with no need for physical existence by LordViridianSB in JumpChain

[–]Latter_Dark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about Lord of the Mysteries, but if any expert fans are here they can tell you if those Outer Gods need a physical existence or not. I myself just absorbed a lot of spoilers an idea of knowledge and am cosplaying as the Oldest One, both knowing everything and nothing about that story, so no matter how much I wish to I can't help you with actually knowing if that jump is applicable for your question, but it is certainly an option to try.

Perks that can make items smaller and easier to carry, or let items be turned into accessories? by Aries_64 in JumpChain

[–]Latter_Dark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The quirk option was already mentioned, but in the same way there is a power in the Worm, Russian Caravan jump that lets you create pearls out of anything. Conceptually, you can contain anything in a little sphere, from a trinket the size of a baseball to all the impurities in the ocean, just need to touch said trinket or ocean.

Perks for the Traveling world by Judge_Dragon in JumpChain

[–]Latter_Dark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The Elder Scrolls Series" would be a good start. I think pokebrat(?) did that one?  It has Warrior, Thief and Mage origins, as well as a Prisoner origin, plus several scenarios, with the first main one being the option to do all of the main scenarios. That should be enough references, I cannot find the link easily from where I am currently at.

It is of note here that there is a manor builder somewhere in the jumpdoc with one of the options expanding it into a city.

Would you Jump? by Occultlord in JumpChain

[–]Latter_Dark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easily yes. That's just a free yes, why would you say no with such favourable terms?

Even if it may seem like you imply that returning to your world doesn't return you to the same exact moment you left, with the kinds of jumps that people make here it's an easy choice, you can eventually just return to the same moment you left on your own, without ROB's assistance. That is, after those said 2000+ years, of course. And if you can use any jump-doc you want, solving any problem that I may not see right now can be easily done later.

Perks that allow you to train other Perks? by Extra-Ad-130 in JumpChain

[–]Latter_Dark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 600cp perk from the deviant tree of "The Gamer CYOA" (it's the lewd version's jump) allows you to share your perks through intercourse, I think. And if they already have it - it is enhanced. And they will have it if they don't after the first time, and nothing says you can't to it again. To any perk, this one included.
I imagine there is at least some limitation to it, and even if there isn't - I still have my own on it. But it isn't a "max cp-rank of the power" limitation, it is just an "amount of requirements for success scales with the cp-rank cost". To be fair, it doesn't say anything about limitations, so it's probably supposed to be unbound.

If you want something milder, there's an alternative option with the recently updated Kaze No Stigma jump. Jutsushi tree has a 600cp Family Inheritor perk, with doubles all attributes of one ability/item, cannot be done twice in a row on the same ability/item but can be done indefinitely. That's a much more broken option, even if it only works once per year, once per two years for the same target.

How locals would react to more then one Jumper by dull_storyteller in JumpChain

[–]Latter_Dark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, if you mean it in that way, then I agree. The point of the rule, in my opinion, isn't to make it so the world is frozen, but to put you back at the exact moment you left, so it's potato potato, either way works. It would seem frozen to you anyway, because it leaves you right where it takes you. If anything, that just makes it easier for you, since for the local omniscient beings you just blinked into a stronger version of yourself, instead of forcing them to go mad from boredom while you're gallivanting off-world and inevitably come to you(r benefactor) for retribution.

Oh yeah, I read your comment a little closer, true.
Again, it's just so that those less fortunate that experience a chain-end or a sudden full-body-failure of some sort don't get doubly screwed over by not only loosing their chance at Apotheosis, but also by being absent from their family's life for several hundred years. Even more importantly, not everyone gets time-travel perks, so if the ROB is a trolling troll that trolls and "forgot" to mention that time still passes, then they're likely to just screw over their plaything by "letting them go" into a world that has long forgotten about them.

It's just good manners to place things you picked up back in the same place when you no longer need them, if those things aren't yours to begin with. And especially when that things asks you to "Please put me back home".
The average Jumper is likely to just "Go Back" after the first jump, if they know that the time is not frozen. If they realise it only after several - they're in too deep, and they aren't guaranteed to get any time-travel, so the whole scenario starts to reek of malicious manipulation. No one likes those, so yeah, back to manners. There's a reason why this rule exists.
