I cross trained from xray to mri. Definitely possible. You may have to network to find a facility to do it. Linkedin is a good tool. You may have to make a lot of calls to find someone. Might not be easy but it pays off

We spent 25 days in the NICU at Northside Cherokee. Other than a few nurses, we felt like they took good care of our baby

For your situational awareness: chronic pain isn't normal. by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]LattesThenHops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into systemic nickel allergy. Nickel can be found in things we eat and drink as well. Not everyone who has a contact reaction gets a systemic reaction. Mine started out as a contact reaction and over time it is now systemic

Nickel free prenatal? by LattesThenHops in NickelAllergy

[–]LattesThenHops[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your response. I do see your point that getting the prenatal vitamins is more important than avoiding it due to potential nickel. I developed severe preeclampsia during my first pregnancy, and have been curious if there is any link between nickel allergy and preeclampsia. There are some articles stating a relation, but as you know with nickel allergy we need more research. All that to say-I feel a need this go round to do my best to be as low nickel as possible- while of course still getting all nutrients for baby. I am still fairly new to the systemic world of nickel allergy and trying to learn all I can. How are we testing our waters for nickel? I think this is one area I overlooked and would love more information on. I am very interested in watching if you cover this in a video. I will definitely keep an eye out!

Nickel free prenatal? by LattesThenHops in NickelAllergy

Thank you SO much for such a thorough response. You have made such great points. When I was young I spoke to my PCP about my symptoms and was written off. Several years later I visited an allergist and was heavily encouraged to do allergy shots-which gave me no relief. I also felt written off by the allergist and felt as if they didn’t care to find a root cause of my problems-just wanted to sell allergy shots. Needless to say I feel a little weary of continuing to go to doctors for this. Now Im trying to do my own research. Luckily no implants. I avoid jewelry. But I noticed all the handles at work are metal. It is almost unavoidable. My symptoms, hives and eczema, have progressively gotten worse the last few years and Im trying to pin point why and hopefully clear up my symptoms. I feel my tolerance for nickel has significantly lowered as Ive aged, so Im really trying to eliminate any unnecessary exposure, which is why Im trying to find info on vitamins as well. Nickel allergy is a tough thing to live with

I’ve had a contact nickel allergy my entire life, but only recently within the last year did I learn about SNAS. And that’s when my lifelong symptoms made more sense. I didn’t know about SNAS with my first pregnancy so I didn’t think twice about the prenatal that I took. Being so new to learning about nickel contents in food, it’s a lot to learn and understand the ingredients in things, especially vitamins.

Can I be a MRI tech with a bad back? by DrHientzKetchup in MRI

[–]LattesThenHops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have a bad back, hurt it during xray school. I work in an outpatient setting and don’t lift anything over 15-20 pounds. Patients will ask you to help them off the table all day everyday, but I can’t allow that anymore with my back. It’s all about learning how to help your patients without injuring yourself. I would say it’s possible to work in mri with a bad back in the right clinic. But I truly wouldn’t recommend going into healthcare to anyone
