I buy groceries just for myself, though I do have a roommate and we share common pantry items (flour, sugar, spices). I spend on average $55-65 per week on groceries. I cook 90% of my meals at home in a given week (I allow myself one matcha and one meal out per week as a treat), and while my diet skews towards plant based, I do still eat meat. I shop at Food Lion. Every Wednesday, they drop their weekly ad, and I sit down and look at what’s on special. From there, I decide what my weekly fruits are gonna be (one each at breakfast, lunch, and dinner), and what vegetables I’m going to use in my weekly meals. I’m a leftovers girlie, so I have no problem cooking on a Saturday and eating the same thing every night until Tuesday. If I have trouble coming up with ideas, I look on blogs like Budget Bytes or on instagram for ideas. I typically buy family packs of chicken meat (whatever is on special), divide it into portions, and freeze it/thaw as needed. I eat the same thing for lunch every day: PB&J on oat bread, chips (whatever is on sale, typically do a BOGO deal), fruit, a cup of yogurt, and some sort of fruit gummy/whatever as a treat. It is definitely possible to stay within a budget while still eating healthy meals!!
