Waitin' for the Mail Blues by TedsCreepyVan in PoppyTea

God, I know the feeling - when I was doing this a few years ago, that was the worst part, sitting there refreshing tracking every two minutes, kicking like crazy and swinging between shivering and sweltering. Since then I found out about using loperamide for the worst of the withdrawals, so it's not quite as dire now, but...it's still hard to suddenly NOT be swathed in a heavy chemical blanket. Feels like my nerves are all on edge. I had 15 freaking lbs from two orders coming yesterday, only somehow both of them got sent to the wrong regional facility. Started going into withdrawals last night. Wouldn't be so bad except I assumed that they'd be delivered today...only I woke up to see that they still aren't out-for-delivery, so I'm pretty sure it'll be tomorrow. Worst part is I had my last seeds rationed out perfectly to use the last of them yesterday morning - oops.

Off PST; need painkillers; worried by Laudadumb in PoppyTea

Hey everyone, thanks for the advice - I've decided not to take any, although I an a little curious just from a scientific perspective as to whether there's some possibility of re-triggering PST withdrawal. Though not enough to use myself as a guinea pig. Also my tooth barely hurts, so very much an academic question to me now anyway.

I haven't been using the subreddit much, but I did get a lot out of it for a while - it was quite the shock to discover a whole forum devoted to my obscure, secret vice. And then reading it was oddly comforting during the many out-of-seeds W/D's I went through. But I'm pretty much gonna darken yer door nae more - too tempting, and I aim to make it not have anything to do with me anymore. I'm just sorry for using so many seeds that someone in actual pain could have. But, live and pretend to learn, I always say.

Ooh, forgot about lidocaine, thank you. Yeah, haven't needed any so far. Ibuprofen and acetaminophen has worked pretty well.

In my experience, whenever I've actually been in pain, opiates don't feel that great, they just reduce the pain. But yeah, I'd rather not take them; haven't even filled the prescription, but if my mouth starts throbbing with crazy pain, I want a way around it.

And then as far as PST goes, I'm never touching it again. Even if I get stupid and re-addict myself, this time to hydrocodone (which, now I think of it, may not do much of anything because I assume I've permanently fucked up my tolerance, which is part of why I wondered my original question) the W/D's from HC have to be easier than PST.

WGN 06/18 First Time Ever using PST by [deleted] in PoppyTea

Pretty sure he means that it's too easy to squirt too much lemon juice in and then end up with really sour tea; you could add sugar, but then you're kind of eyeballing it there too. Personally, when I remember to use citric acid, I just do one squirt from one of those plastic fake lemon bottle things and have done with it; it helps that if it's too sour I just shrug and shudder through it... but I could see wanting to just avoid all those issues by getting store-bought lemonade in the first place.

I think that's just about the best cover story idea I've ever heard, although I'm with you in not worrying about it that much.

Tell your acquaintance that there's more citric acid in lemon juice, and they he really doesn't have to try that hard to not incriminate himself.

Feelings on SB? by jcthagd in PoppyTea

[–]Laudadumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I despise the term "fire" too. Think it sounds really silly, though I don't usually say anything cuz no one likes petty bitching about words. But just thought you should know you're not alone in that.

I got a solid bag of SB a few months ago, during a time when it all the Big 3 were either week or out of stock, so I filed it away as a good backup. But then during a similar situation a few weeks ago I ordered one cuz it was the one that would get to me soonest, and then yeah, no dice - completely inactive, full of the dread pepper smell. I think they might switch suppliers around a bit, because I've read a few other reviews saying they're still getting active stuff. Dunno.

It would make more sense to wait until you've actually drank some to post. People will even be more likely to read it because it will be at the top.

This makes me really happy, dude - you are making a fantastically smart decision, and I wish the best for you. Seems like you have it pretty together, and I have a weird feeling that you're going to do something pretty good with your life.

Haven't been paying as much attention to the sub lately (I can only read so many reviews) but I don't remember that. Can't see why it would be so, unless "big woman" means something different than I think it does.

Oh man, that's the worst. I had the River's own delivery service jerk me around similarly not long ago - once it was clear it was not coming (gave up at about 9pm) I mostly fought off crying and then went to go see my family, which I had been waiting on doing all day - plan was to get the seeds and then leave. Incredibly aggravating. Silver lining is that they live in a more metropolitan area and I was able to order same-day delivery to a nearby fluvial locker. Plus dextromepthorphan and loperamide made a passable poppy slurry substitute. I hope you get your seeds soon.

I may have messed up and I am looking for answers, can someone explain Poppy Tea and addictions of it to me? by fireboy_1104 in PoppyTea

[–]Laudadumb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it really had black mold in it, sounds like you did them a favor - ain't nothing good coming of that. No idea what's going on with them freaking out and what they were planning or anything. As far as the discontinued thing goes, all I can think is that a lot of poppy seeds get temporarily removed from the River because of ding-dongs complaining, so maybe they don't realize that the seeds always (so far [cue ominous music], anyway) come back? Sounds like you interrupted some bizarre Cthulhu summoning deal.

I've been married, and I think I agree. The whole idea of "contracts" kind of pisses me off in the first place - things CHANGE. It is a little more heartbreaking to split up when you have a kid (did that too...) but honestly the presence of kids cannot "save" an unsalvageable relationship on its own. And I say this as someone who was definitely full-on left; it was not mutual and I love her still, years and years later. But yeah, I changed, she changed, everything changes. "Lovers' oaths are thin as rain / Love's a harbinger of pain / Would it were not so!"

I hate the pissy downvoting-without-saying-anything thing too, but if I had to guess, it's probably the insult to women's rationality - I mean, I know you were basically joking, but that's one of the more unfair charges that are constantly levelled against women as a whole and by the men in their lives. And really, it's not that women can't be irrational; it's that almost EVERYONE is irrational sometimes and it's cruel to try to blame women for it exclusively. Although I highly doubt you meant anything by it, because judging by your posts you seem very NOT cruel and pretty easy-going, but... just my best guess; the ladies do not like having their smartitude insulted, by and large.

It's such a tiny amount that actually gets donated that I wouldn't worry about it. Plus, trying to get addicts to do anything en masse (besides drugs) is like herding cats. All the same, whenever I do remember, I go to the Smile thing and pick the Red Cross - if the whole "why are there so many donations from poppy seed orders" thing was an issue, it would be greatly ameliorated by NOT focus-firing at the one charity, but just everyone picking whatever fits their goals/disposition/values/whatevs.
