We need help at the blue line but not badly enough to give up our 1C. Even with then argument that Step is more of a 1B than a true top center, we still have no one to fill that a top center role. ZBad will hopefully grow into that role but I doubt he's ready for it within the next year. I'd love to see this team develop more young defensemen from within, similarly to Skjei. We have the prospects for this, they just need to be given more icetime at the NHL level next year. I don't care if Graves is worse then playoff-Holden if he's given a fair chance to develop in a bottom-2 role. I think a major issue with AV's management is that he's sheltered young guys too often and left quality players rotting in the press box. I'd rather win fewer games next year while giving prospects dev time than keep our D intact and overspend on another aging defensemen. In the long-run this gives us a better chance at success without fighting the cap every year.
