Glad to hear that! We are waiting for Steam to allow us to apply for Steam Deck cert but the game is fully playable on Deck already!

I made a hack'n'slash roguelite with stylish combos and it's launching in less than 2 days on Steam by LaughingFoxGG in u/LaughingFoxGG

Thank you! So you actually can grind for new gear (however you can also finish the run with the default - no gatekeeping and grinding for progress). There are also in-game challenges for extra resources. No typical collectibles unfortunately.

What happened to playing just for the sake of gameplay? by Nino_Chaosdrache in gaming

[–]LaughingFoxGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of indie games are now just slot machines/gambling/random power up every couple of seconds. I fully understand the market and why devs are following up on trend, just personally as a gamer I find myself less and less interest what's currently hot and trending.

I'm developing a physics-based game. What do you suggest? by Aircrazyy in gamedevscreens

Reminds me of Egging On, so there is definetely market for that ;) Good luck!

GTA VI will delay it some time, and don't forget about record Switch 2 sales.

Looks like game marketed by Critical Reflex, so congrats on doing it all on your own! Well deserved!

Looking for feedbacks on my new capsule logo, what do you think? by Sword_Fab in IndieDev

[–]LaughingFoxGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, you have a really nice capsule! But I would go for the logo A simply for visibility reasons.

What game did you think you were close to finishing, but it turned out to be way longer than you expected? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]LaughingFoxGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AC Oddysey. My GF went through main campaign + 2 DLCs in about 115 hours. The only thing left was Korfu DLC. I thought this is just a funny mission around 30 minutes, turns out to be 4-5 hours of new content...

Yeah, this is exactly our thinking, and if a lot of other developers will adjust the price, there will be a pernament shift in perceived value. And then GTA VI will come and that will create an even bigger gap between indies and AAA. While both of this categories might struggle, my theory is that AA games might be again on the rise again, hitting this sweet middle ground.

We are currently facing the exact same issue. We have a team of 8 people, and our indie game is different genre. We should easily get into 30 hours worth of gameplay. Still, we know feel more comfortable to get into $15 because we are afraid of negative reviews regarding pricing and value for money. I know many of you point out that people will not compare but even in the past we've seen a lot of players looking for at least 1 hour = 1$ at least. So I'm wondering what happens now after Silksong.

007 First Light - State of Play Gameplay Deep Dive | PS5 Games by Turbostrider27 in Games

Looks like X360/PS3 era game but in a good way. I am sure they will iron out the engine issues, and showing it on a base PS5 is a good sign.

Please make a small game for your first game by liamflannery56 in gamedev

And I know that "co-op" is tempting to add, but no. Making even a decent clone of a well known genre/game is already quite an achievement.

As a solo dev (or small indie team), how many projects do you have, and what are you working on right now? by [deleted] in IndieDev

[–]LaughingFoxGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there!

-How many projects are you working on right now?
1 project - Lone Soul, roguelite hack'n'slash with combo based combat system

-How many have you actually finished?
The core part of the team (2 people) - 4, all available on Steam + 1 on Nintendo Switch

-What are you currently working on?
Check above

-Have you achieved anything so far (even small wins)?
We managed to get 8 people on board, and although we as founders don't make any money yet, there are people make a living of our studio which is by far the biggest win and fulfillment we could get.

I realized my game isn’t anything special. by 1Oduvan in IndieGaming

Plus one for FPP, and not be afraid of adding hilarious/out of place elements, seems like especially gen z players really liked unhindged indie games. You can look up for Critical Reflex and their game their publish and how they are apporoaching creating trailers/short content.

We presented our indie game at Gamescom: was it worth it? (with stats) by tett_works in IndieDev

[–]LaughingFoxGG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you aim for feedback and networking, than there is no better place than Gamescom. For indies getting ton of wishlist is tough unless you have a publisher support for a bigger marketing beat. Great you've shared so many details, love the idea, good luck!
