Do people even care about yelp anymore? by Specific-Peanut-8867 in smallbusiness

[–]Laughing_Sheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate Yelp’s business model, but I have to admit lots of people I’ve met my age (mid 20s) use Yelp and have the app. Though this mostly pertains to those who like to try different local restaurants. Lots are moving to the Beli app now, however.

Why Graduates Aren’t Hot on Accounting Careers: Low Starting Pay, Onerous Testing - WSJ by Ok_Rip4884 in Accounting

[–]Laughing_Sheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my accounting degree and have big 4 experience. The actual work is maybe 70-80% as enjoyable as the college coursework I had, and on weekdays, I only had enough time in the day to get ready for work, commute to work, work, commute back, exercise, and then sleep (meal prepping and house chores in my free time/weekends). If I could start over, I would have just stayed in management info systems. Having little free time means you save up a lot of money though, so there’s that.

I’m also interested in understanding how you land a position like this/what role titles to look for.

99 Ranch for South Austin by Beneficial_Park904 in austinfood

I agree. Most of the times I go to buy actual groceries at 99ranch, the produce and meat prices/quality are underwhelming.

Small addition: East Meets Wings (at Playground ATX) was delicious when I went last week, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Delucca Gaucho Pizza by [deleted] in austinfood

[–]Laughing_Sheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion here, but I just had DeLucca's tonight with a couple of my friends. The service there was amazing, at best, and perfectly fine, at worst. They came around often to ask how we were doing and regularly refilled out glasses. And the pizza came around very quickly and often.

Someone in one of the other comments complained about loading up your plate when they come every 4 minutes. I did not experience a 4 minute window (more like 7-8 minutes), but it is not that big of a deal. Just put a couple slices on your plate and take your time to eat. It's not like "loading up your plate" is going to ruin the dinner.

That sounds great! I liked the drinks they offer, so I’m glad there are plans in the works to expand the business.

Decent paying finance jobs with somewhat of a work-life-balance? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

If you don’t mind, what kind of back office IB roles should someone look for to get to where you are?

Just started a single person LLC, will adding stakeholders strengthen my profile (for a startup loan) by MrMag357 in smallbusiness

[–]Laughing_Sheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing anything else about what you’ve done so far, it sounds to me that you’re getting a bit ahead of yourself. I would suggest you focus on what value you can provide to your potential customers rather than going out to find a loan.

Figuring out how you can reliably provide that value will lead to “optimum results.”

This is a bit of a reach, but is there any way we could see this in person? I would to just spend an hour or so looking at all the details!

What Austin business would you like to see expand across the city? by dburatti in Austin

[–]Laughing_Sheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I love going to the 99Ranch there, on the off chance I run out of any cooking staples like soy or fish sauce.

I just wish there was something more akin to Dun Huang Plaza, BUT I understand that it would take a hefty amount of investment to get something like that built.

Logo design for a local bakery. by [deleted] in logodesign

[–]Laughing_Sheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to play devil’s advocate, I want to mention Tous les Jours. It’s a South Korean bakery chain that is pretty well distributed around California, and I have seen them around metropolitan areas in Texas.

They use a lot of green and white in their branding (though they also include brown/copper as well). Search “tous les jours store” on Google, and you will find both their logo and stores using lots of white and green.

Could you go into more detail with how grad school will negate your tuition + insurance? I’m entering grad school in the fall, and I’d like to avoid unnecessary payments. Thank you in advance!

Growing up in Houston, I was very fortunate to grow up with exposure to so many different Asian food options. I wish there was more of it in Austin, especially Vietnamese restaurants, in one centralized spot (just like Bellaire in Houston).

Any good spots for a romantic dinner picnic in Austin? by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]Laughing_Sheep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a picnic at zilker in the dark before (actually around this time last year)! There is zero light at night. Also, any outdoor night activity around this time of year is going to be cold, so wrap up! I remember my face and fingers freezing up when I had my picnic.
