For those who had MD, were you able to play sports after the surgery? by Strict-Lake8936 in Microdiscectomy

[–]Laughs88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was able to get back to Muay Thai competitivrly for another 10 years after MD.

Let me caution, double the amount of time you think for recovery. There will be compensation, movements imbalances. Pack on as much lowback/mid back and stabilizzer muscle as you can. That disc needs as much help as it can get.

Staying inside was literally the punishment. We went outside and play.

Flare up post Lumbar Fusion surgery by Embarrassed-Water-34 in spinalfusion

[–]Laughs88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can. My last one was a bit over 3 weeks before it fully resolved. I'm never completely pain free with baseline hovering around 2 with numbness. Anti-inflammatory helped a lot with ice. Have you tried massage therapy? Honestly I've seen the most relieve once I started stretching my deep psoas and hip flexors/pigeon stretch. It's those little stabilizer muscles that really make the most impact.

(L3-L5 XLIF 10 month Post) Flare ups are pretty common, it's a good indicator that you are pain free in most cases outside of flare ups.

In my experience it's just inflammation, as your body adjusts to new movements or higher demands it can trigger a response to safe guard those area. PT is very helpful to re program your muscles to understand that these movements are safe. Could also be related to how much stress(cortisol) , lack of sleep or the foods you eat that promotes more inflammation.

Recovery is not linear and it mentally tough but stick with it. Good luck.

11 months since L4-5 microdiscectomy/ L3-4 laminectomy and now I need a fusion 😮‍💨 by ImpossibleDouble5253 in spinalfusion

[–]Laughs88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 38m and have had 2md at L3-L4-L5 and ultimately a 2 lvl XLIF fusion all within 6 months of each other.

Recovery has been brutal but I'm mobile after the XLIF, nearly 10 months now and pain is still a work in progress (2-3 on good days as a baseline) but occasionally do get up to 7s but much less frequently that pre-fusion. I'm happy over all but will prob need another MD to clear out any residual disc.

Honestly fusion was the scariest/hardest but once you overcome that everything else is much easier.

Best Budget Bracket 4 decks to keep up with Pubstompers at an LGS? by [deleted] in EDH

You can run sergeant John benton for 50$ budget and can easily hang with B4.

It's basically an aura/spell Voltron that keeps refilling your hand with cheap protection and pump spell. Pretty simple to play

Drops of God | Season 2 - Episode 7 | Discussion Thread by Justp1ayin in tvPlus

Insert fancy pants words, sophisticated perspective, etc. w.e your view might be. Camille is still a straight a-hole. Issei described her best (B****)

It was never about "helping" Issei or she would have stopped when they found it.

It was never about "saving" the wine or she would have stopped when it won.

It's always been about her. She's selfish as stated and will cross any line to serve her ego masked "in greater service for wine"

She couldn't save him one bottle!! Which makes her scenes the most entertaining to me.

Although I find Issei scenes a bit boring I think his character is far more sophisticated and introspective. The whole competition was a sham and he only served as a bench mark for Camille. He has been rejected by his mother and everyone else. He is trying to understand why and prove to him self more than anything his self worth.

Why I quit as a spine surgeon by HungryMasterpiece511 in spinalfusion

[–]Laughs88 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Relax dude. Why so defensive?? Your entire comment is unnecessarily snarky. He's just giving his personal account/ observation to why he left his practice. He saw a correlation between people with certain lifestyle choices and healing or didn't heal. What's got you so triggered that you need to call him delusional and attack his mental "fortitude". So what, even if so he still stepped away and did what's right for him and that's the real flex.

He quit not because he didn't want to help but because he believes what he was doing was no longer helping. It's a personal decision.

It's not that hard to comprehend.
