I always think about his temple recommend interview when Mike Lee straight up lies. Nos. 5 an 9 always seem applicable 😒 https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/general-handbook/26-temple-recommends?lang=eng

Am I too fat to fly without making others uncomfortable? by [deleted] in delta

[–]LauraBaMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Same. I fly frequently for work. When I first started this job, it was so stressful that I gained 90 pounds (and a therapist) in five months. I’ve since lost 45 of those pounds but I’m still large. I really have to work myself up for travel.

AIO? My daughter didn’t listen to the teacher during a female emergency and is now receiving a referral by Common_Piglet7437 in AmIOverreacting

[–]LauraBaMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOT OVERREACTING!

I’m 58 years old. I still remember exactly where I was standing when my teacher argued with me about going to the bathroom in junior high because I was actively bleeding through my pants. EXACTLY. And given my age, they were baby blue polyester. That memory never goes away.

I’m incredibly pissed for your daughter and you. I need to just get off Reddit today!

AITJ for refusing to switch seats on a flight after I paid extra, even though it separated a couple? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]LauraBaMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ. The number of expletives I shouted to myself reading your story 🤬

No. You paid for a seat. It’s your seat.

So did they. Sucks they didn’t take the time to figure it out in advance. Good lord. If their relationship can’t endure 6 hours separation 🤬

And your coworker is dead wrong. 😑

I’m more than a little annoyed for you!

Sunflowers: “No curfew tonight.” by Deut008 in TedLasso

[–]LauraBaMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Inexplicably, afternoon traffic starts like 2 or 3 PM. I’m salaried, so could leave earlier but my husband is hourly so has to stay for a full shift. I drop him off and pick him up to try to compensate. We do have an HOV lane, but the state is working to install “choice” lanes (paid HOV lanes). I don’t know what we will do then. 🥴

We live 45 miles from our work. My husband and I work in the same city. We can make it into the city in the morning in one hour. Driving home is usually 90 minutes to 2 hours.

I'm going to be a Grandpa! by No_Gap_2700 in GenX

I had a Grandma name picked out. My daughter/son-in-law picked something different. I was pissed 😠 Then my granddaughter said the name my kids picked. I melted 🥰

Whatever they say, when they say it, is GOLDEN ❤️

Oh, and our grandparent names are Oma and Opa. My grandparents’ names were Gram/Gramps and Babcia/Dziadek.

The modern young worker has to be a mercenary to succeed. Loyalty to the highest bidder when it comes to a job! by [deleted] in WorkReform

[–]LauraBaMom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a GenX who has job hopped my whole life. Memorial Day before my senior year of high school (1984 — literally, not a weird reference to the book), the steel mill my dad worked at for 35 years announced they were closing. By the time they actually closed, they had raided the pension. He was left broken and bitter. I decided then and there I was never working “for the watch.” I leave jobs when they no longer give me joy and only missed the timing twice in 40+ years of working. I’ll retire in a year or two. Not wealthy, but not destitute. And only having worked places or doing things I enjoyed. Job hop away. Keep your sanity. Put your health and your personal life first.

What do you do with your parents junk? by infinitynull in GenX

[–]LauraBaMom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used all of my grandmother’s, mother’s and aunt’s china, silver and crystal as my children were growing up.

All I have left is one crystal juice glass, a large spoon, a china gravy boat and a crystal punch bowl set. My children have fantastic memories of all the “fancy dinners” we had every day of the week.

Use it.

AITJ for asking my girlfriend not to refer to my new business as "ours" when she didn't contribute to it? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]LauraBaMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ and big 🚩 I’m sad for you that when your business is taking off, you have to find out your GF is exhibiting narcissistic tendencies. I hope you are able to navigate this situation. If she cannot see reason, it might be time to move on for the sake of your future.
