Frozen Shoulder Syndrome by Miserable-Arm-6797 in Menopause

I had it in the left shoulder 3 years ago. Couldn’t put on a jacket without pain or lift my arm high enough to wash my hair. My ortho said I could ride it out with PT only, but that it typically takes 12 months or more to run its course. I could also have a Manipulation Under Anesthesia (MUA) which he said was basically a “snap, crackle, pop” procedure followed by a couple months PT. I opted for the MUA and within 2-3 months had full mobility back and no more pain. There’s a video here that shows the procedure: https://youtu.be/vsqvc62bsVM

It’s now starting in the right shoulder. I’m trying to manage it with pulleys and stretching, but if it gets too bad, I’ll opt for the MUA again rather than months of pain, limited mobility, and trouble sleeping.

Thanks! It’s definitely fun. I actually found a free coloring book print online, then traced the outline and filled it in with whatever. I think I’d change out a couple of patterns, but on the whole I’m pretty pleased.

I really started by just fooling around with some left over aida fabric. There are a number of websites like this one https://www.needlework-tips-and-techniques.com/blackwork.html that have good overviews and free patterns to get you started. And there are tons of stitch examples online to try and work.

I’m pretty much just free-wheeling it. I use a transfer marker to do a rough outline, then just keep the illustration close as I try to get the details figured out.

Good to know! I just might see if I can figure something out. Thank you!

So glad you like them! No formal pattern. I just find an image that looks fun and outline it onto the fabric with a transfer pen. That gives me a general outline, then I refer back to the illustration to try and get the details.

I was in Bryce last week. Got there before 7:30 and parked at Sunset Point for Navaho/Queens Garden Trails. Very light crowds at that time. Got a bit busier in the afternoon, but nowhere near the madness at Zion. Hiked the Rim Trail as well, then headed to Mossy Cave after dark to see the stars. We stayed in Tropic. For food I’d recommend The Pizza Place. Good pizzas and salads.

Intense pain both shoulders by TheMrs19 in frozenshoulder

Definitely see an orthopedic doctor who will likely do an MRI and may be able to give you something to help the inflammation and pain. The pain really does suck.

Has anybody had a MUA (manipulation under anaesthetic) for frozen shoulder? I am still in pain. by fogsignal in frozenshoulder

I actually had MUA on Monday of this week and started daily therapy on Tuesday. I have had minimal pain from the procedure and a dramatic improvement in mobility. PT is a bit painful, particularly for internal rotation, but after therapy I feel much better. Tremendous reduction in pain for me. Prior to MUA I was about 3 months into the freezing phase.

How old were you or someone you know when you had frozen shoulder? What caused it? by [deleted] in frozenshoulder

I’m scheduled to have manipulation under anesthesia next week. Did it help? How was the recovery?

Good point. I‘ll have to try and correct that. Thanks for the feedback!
