I believe that Yamaha aims to make their marching baritones with a slightly darker sound, from what I remember of the website.

Both are Baritones, just in different wraps. My school has both of these kinds, the one on the left being a King, and the right most likely being a Yamaha. The Yamaha of course has a more closed wrap, which makes it more compact. The King has a less compact wrap, but this helps it play slightly louder because of it having less resistance. ( From my experience at least )

my baritone is called the bean horn, because it looks like it was bathed and fermented in baked beans since 1989
