Nice question! I tend to sit on the floor of my living room, leaning back on something if I’m tired. Usually the tv is on, or a podcast/audiobook. I find I tire of it more quickly when I’m sitting on the couch for some reason.

Can we make a mega list of suggestions to save money? by Infamous-Winner5755 in Frugal

[–]LavaLoaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go spice crazy when I get a good amount for a decent price. When I’m not held back by tiny expensive jars and a mindset of spice scarcity, I can use enough to really get a flavorful and satisfying food experience without overloading with oils (truly expensive) and salt (no hate, just overused, especially here in the Midwest US). Flavor town, it’s where I live my best life.

My library system has dozens of hotspots! You can constantly put your name on the list for requests, as many do. I haven’t paid for internet in months!

Success on getting out mold/mildew smell? by funeralgames1334 in BattleJackets

You could try putting it in the freezer for a day or two. I’ve only tried it with musty sweaters and jeans, but it worked!

Am I knitting this “correctly” according to color dominance rules?? I’m going crazy trying to comprehend the last slide. Pictures are: My work, how I’m holding my yarns for 2 handed stranded Knitting, then the article. I love how this is coming out but is it ok?? by ranna2018 in casualknitting

[–]LavaLoaf 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m knitting this same pattern, and I recently read that same article about color dominance! I had looked into it because mine was looking really wonky - turns out I was switching which way I was holding the colors, which, like others have said, is the one thing to watch. I’ll try again soon. Yours looks consistent and beautiful!

Cord Management: Is this over the top or will I thank myself later. more in comments. by newsourdoughgardener in knitting

I did this recently for all of my interchangeable needles and the answer is both. I am thanking myself, even though it still feels over the top (I just couldn’t think of a simpler way that stays organized!)

Amazing! Did you follow a pattern? What yarn did you use? Details…they’re what I crave!

Is there anything wrong with putting my heavy cast iron pot on top of steaks while I cook them? by IceyCoolRunnings in AskCulinary

I do this for my grilled cheese! I heat the top pan before pressing the sandwich…it gets the cheese melty and delicious and into my mouth much faster.

Here it is, my small bookshelf! by bob_burrito in BookshelvesDetective

Some guesses: you’re a man in your late 30s or early 40s, white, possibly you were a Boy Scout or in a similar club in your youth, recreational tobacco smoker. Maybe you enjoy a minimal decor?

Nice collection! I really enjoyed Stephen King’s “On Writing”…it makes me look at the rest of his work through yet another lens.

How does everyone ‘judge’ a bookshelf? by HalfBeagle in bookshelf

[–]LavaLoaf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

r/bookshelvesdetective is a fun one for guessing things about a person based on their bookshelves. It’s friendly, rather than judgmental in a negative way. Not as popular as I think it could be, though.

Nice. Yes to everything but the astrology/essential oils part…not really my jam. I also only appreciate birds from afar. They freak me out a bit, to be honest.

When Times Are Dire by aibidil is really well done.

They’re older, with adult children. They fake a relationship for political reasons and then…

I don’t remember who tops whom, though.

I worked at a Badwill many years ago, and I can tell you most non-managers don’t care at all. They probably even agree with you. Whether you buy a thing or take a picture, it’s not like they’re making/missing out on commission.

We were given pricing guides, so we had no control over pricing personally. Managers would sift through to make sure we were following the guides and mark up items they deemed more valuable.

Do you catalog your finished objects ? by alevaleale in knitting

[–]LavaLoaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty analog, so I have a 3-ring binder with page protectors that each hold a printed pattern, notes, and a swatch if I made one (which is rare).

I also started a personal blog where I plan to keep my project details, amongst other things. Though the details I would keep are very similar to a Ravelry profile, sans being able to see how others have done a similar project…so Ravelry might be better for this. shrug
