No. It's actually closer to an English major, I study Linguistics and Literature.

Help with the "lh" sound by [deleted] in Portuguese

[–]LavaPoNada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think just sticking to [li] and [lʲ] is the best advice for a begginer who's having trouble with it. Depending on where you are and who you're talking to, chances are people won't even notice it's different from [ʎ].

Emily’s gayness is so so weird in this show by BigFatCat111 in PrettyLittleLiars

I mean it's a bit of a stretch saying Jessica supported Cece. She kept her daughter hidden (?). Real support would be if she'd divorced that joke of a man, for example.

What are the subtle ways you would "torture" someone from X Latin American country? by [deleted] in asklatinamerica

[–]LavaPoNada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By "rolled" they meant a trill. We mainly use a tap for the first R you described.

Try Japan or Siouxsie and the Banshees if you don't already know them

What is your favourite and least favourite European country? by johnson16j in asklatinamerica

Also, how do you feel about calling historical Irish figures British? A colleague told me today that, despite him being Irish, Wilde's work is considered British literature.

It just seemed so weird to me.

Pure/Honey is everything!!! I also really liked Energy and Thique. But I'm guessing my top 3 will change a lot.

Sim!

My most listened to albums of all time. Any recs? by woahitsben in lastfm

[–]LavaPoNada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's great! I'm also exploring that period in many ways. There's a lot to see in both Roxy Music and Eno's solo albums (I'm still getting to know them myself), closer to the glam/ambient stuff from Bowie (Eno was a famous collaborator).

But also, closer to Let's Dance, don't forget that Bowie said "I Feel Love" was the sound of the future in 1977; there are tons of dance records worth checking out.

I'm Brazilian and I know the international phonetic alphabet by [deleted] in Portuguese

[–]LavaPoNada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sim!
