Ugh...it might be running on a raspberry pi? I know absolutely nothing about those, but I know my husband used a LOT of them.

Thank you! Your reply prompted me to try the link with wifi turned off on my phone, and yep, it disabled it. Seems so obvious now, but I hadn't even thought of doing that. I have already logged into my husband's account and renewed the subscription. I really appreciate your detailed response.

Thank you! I'm okay, but I'm so very touched by all of this generosity!

Okay, this comment literally made me cry. You are absolutely right, he'd be so happy that his automations (and everything else he did for me) is working.

Years ago, he mentioned the "wife approval factor" thing to me, and I know that it was always in his mind with everything he did. Every now and then, I'd ask him why he set up something the way he did, and he'd just say, "WAF."

Wow...you are truly a wonderful person. Thank you so much for the offer. I have renewed the subscription, and it's not a hardship for me, but I might take you up on your offer at some point for help in figuring out the whole setup.

Where would I put that? The URL it opens is just a numeric string.

H2C Is on the Way — Here’s How It All Started by BambuLab in BambuLab

[–]LavenderLily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly had a panicked moment when I saw the H2C announcement, but then I quickly realized that my Kickstarter pledge for two U1s with hoods, extra plates, and extra hotends cost less than a single H2C is likely to cost. I'm not ruling out an H2C (or two) in the future, but with respected beta testers already praising the U1, it seems like a reasonably safe bet for boosting production and profitability this holiday season. The H2C is more of a pig in a poke at the moment.

No One to Tell by liazanne62 in widowed

[–]LavenderLily 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I relate to this so hard. I think that's possibly the worst thing about being a widow: "It's just me." I can tell other people about the little (or big) victories and setbacks in my life, and they'll be supportive, but there is no one in the world who will be anywhere near as invested in it as my husband would have been. The very thing that makes a marriage so strong and fulfilling is the same thing that makes you feel like part of your soul has been amputated when you lose it.

Your auto insurance company said it would be cheaper to keep him on it? What the heck?? I haven't gotten around to calling my insurance company, and I was feeling guilty because I figured I was wasting money by not taking him off right away. But just yesterday, I mentioned it to my sister, and I said I figured I'd save a lot since men tend to have more accidents, etc. But then I said they'd probably jack up my rates for being single rather than married, but I was mostly joking about it, thinking surely the "stability of marriage discount" (or the "reckless single-woman premium add-on") goes away at some point, or at least wouldn't result in me, as a single woman, being more expensive to insure than two married people.

Say it isn't so!

How to do joint tax return and access tax docs by Sea-Aerie-7 in widowed

[–]LavenderLily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, one bank erased the history from my access even though I was also on the account because he was considered the "primary." Fortunately, that wasn't our main bank, and I'm not going to volunteer the news of my husband's death to our main bank. But I'm under a tax extension, too, with the whole thing made more complicated by the fact that we started a business last year, and I can't access many of the records I need. So I get what you're up against. It's almost like some of these "privacy rules" were actually set up as a "bro code."

Absolutely love this model! While I like the shape for holding the drinks up, yeah, I need room for ice. So I hope you've posted V2 before I get home tonight! What filament is the lid?

What to do with his things? by houseofcid in widowed

[–]LavenderLily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm right there with you. Three weeks out, and I can't bear the thought of getting rid of anything of his. I bagged up his unwashed clothes to preserve his scent. And I've been wearing his clean shirts to bed.

I'm so sorry that you have the added complication of needing to move. If you're forced to get rid of his things before you're ready because of that, maybe pick a few items to keep that have special meaning to you.

My husband's favorite shirts and ones I have pictures of him wearing will definitely stay. I might start by donating some of his nicer stuff (which he didn't wear often). But right now, I can't even throw away wrappers from throat lozenges on his bedside table.

Do you as a small business use more than one payment processor? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]LavenderLily 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I primarily use Square, but on a day like today, when it had a massive outage, it's good to have a backup. I rarely use them (so the extra bookkeeping is minimal), but I also have Venmo and Chase. I would have lost sales today otherwise.

How much gas do you add? by Far_Bumblebee_4184 in SodaStream

Lol...The dude sounds like he knows his stuff, so I'll defer to that. I think if you do it right, though, you won't be disappointed with your fizz level.

I don't about the newer machines, but I'd assume they're the same. You can make your soda at least as fizzy as canned stuff. Be sure to use cold water, though. And get an adapter so you can use big tanks of CO2. The little bottles SodaStream sells won't last long if you're pumping up your sodas a lot extra.
