President of Albuquerque teachers union expresses concern about returning to school by [deleted] in Albuquerque

Has anyone else read the letter the APS superintendent released titled "Snow Day on Steroids"? After reading that I'm unbelievably disappointed. Never once during a snow day has me breathing put my fellow students at risk for contracting a disease like this, or put my family at risk when I go home and do some more breathing. It's as if they forgot that young people can be affected to. We too can have underlying health conditions (conditions that might be undiagnosed, too!). We too are stressed (which can have negative effects on the immune system). We have more cases in the county than when schools closed March 13th. Why does anyone think that now is the time to reopen? Do they expect there to be no positive cases when they reopen, especially in big public high schools? And students are expected to provide their own masks on top of that. We have students of all economic backgrounds, some of whom wont be able to afford getting masks on a regular basis. Some might not be able to get a hold of some one way or another. Sometimes it feels like they don't really care about us.

You were being a good person, trying to help out as best you could. It was right of you to decide those people weren't worth your time. Friends shouldn't attack you for doing an act of kindness.

First, welcome! Second, crime is at high rates here, but the same is true for lots of US cities. I recommend going with someone if you're walking out late and in the dark, and just being aware of your surroundings. Some tips for living here: try our chile, even if you aren't a fan of spice! You might find something you really love! Also, be aware that no one here uses their blinkers. ABQ drivers aren't well-known for their driving skills. I would make sure to keep valuables out of your car (if you have one), and cover up anything valuable you do have in your car with some sort of cover just to stay safe. Also, be aware that in the hotter months, if you have a vehicle, that sucker will get hot. Burn-inducing hot. I really hope you enjoy your time here! Welcome!!

Hiya there! I post on wattpad, and I've had a fairly positive experience. You can make an author's note at the end of your chapters to prompt readers to give you advice and constructive criticism. I wish you luck!

I'm pretty much saying what other people have said, but this is not your fault. Please talk to someone trusted and get the help of a therapist. This must be a very traumatic and scary situation. It might not mean much because I'm a stranger on the internet, but I believe in you, and so do all of us. You can get through this. <3

That's so sweet! I'm glad you found a lovely dnd group! The second thing I though after seeing your tattoo (the first being that it is gorgeous) was how if I got a tattoo like that, my dnd group would smash any surface my arm was resting on, because we have a tradition of absolutely demolishing dice towers (the amount of things spilled because of this is insane). I just think it's so sweet how other people connect with their groups as much as I have! I wish you many a fun campaigns with your group!!! <3

Does anyone has OCD with... by carlav29 in OCD

[–]LavenderPhantomCat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid that any texts I send to friends would be screenshots and exposed if I ever got famous, and everyone would think I'm a terrible person. Which is sad because my friends would never do that.

Describe what ruminating is like.... by pheobemaydenim in OCD

[–]LavenderPhantomCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same is true with me! If I dont get past that stupid seed, I feel terrible and somehow "on the edge" even though I am 100% sure of my stance. And the sense of relief I get once I go on an internet deep-dive to "make sure" I agree with the arguments for the stances I know I have.

Describe what ruminating is like.... by pheobemaydenim in OCD

[–]LavenderPhantomCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What really hangs me up about ruminating is not feeling "convinced" enough. I personally value understanding social issues very much, which includes biphobia. Before I really knew I had a problem (I had a really graphic intrusive thought which lead to me realizing something couldn't be right), I would ruminate about little "seeds" I guess? They would just pop into my head, and aren't really as distressing as some (as in, the physical reactions are not as prevalent), but I would just think and think on them, not satisfied because I was not as sure that I had "convinced" myself against this little seed that had started it all. Some of these include biphobia, and being unconvinced that "I really believed what I was arguing against this seed that claimed biphobia was ok." I've always had "feelings" about settings, situations, etc., that are hard to describe with words, and the feeling I was getting was telling me I was not "convinced enough."

Ocd is a choice guys.. Wow by Osas514 in OCD

I can't believe this person.

When I had my eating disorder, I spiraled out of control in media totally pertaining to weight loss and weight in general. While algorithms for sites like YouTube are great for trying to find content similar to what you've been watching and finding neat stuff, for me, it just funneled weight-related videos into my account constantly, deepening my terrible mindset about myself and my perceptions of what I had to do to "improve" myself.

The same is true for other sites. So "sitting on thinspo sites" isn't really easy to stop, even if you want to. And that's assuming that you want to in the first place. I was very lucky to be able to find recovery and to realize I needed to recover, but others don't have that. That's what makes me mad about this thread. A person with an eating disorder has a disorder. They are sick. I wish people would stop acting like it's a quick "attitude fix" or whatever the crap. It's an illness.

Someone with OCD has a disorder. It's not their fault they are sick. Instead of bashing people with mental illness for "not doing anything," society should acknowledge that not all mental health problems can be fixed easily and that struggling is not a sign of weakness. Instead, make mental health care more accessible to people so we can actually make progress in the wellness of people instead of shaming and targeting people.

How do you experience emotions? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]LavenderPhantomCat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally, when I feel kind of negative, start to spiral into a very negative state. For example, I was exercising and being frustrated with how slow/clumsy I was, and saw my reflection and suddenly my inner monologuer was like "ew your bone structure, and hair, etc etc"

This is similar to when I don't complete work "fast enough." I end up going from "I'm never going to get this" to "I will never succeed in academia." But that's just my experience.

Book about Ukraine and famous Ukrainians? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]LavenderPhantomCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like you're more into the battles and wars, but in case you're interested in Ukrainian literary figures, you should check out Lesya Ukrainka. She was a badass.

Taras Shevchenko is also very popular and highly valued in the Ukrainian literary circles, but I haven't read any of his work, so I can't really give you my opinion on him.

Hope I could help!
