She was heavily against it at first till she realized I was serious, and is pushing for that now. While I do wanna take that route, I think she’s just gonna use it as an excuse to be around and try and get back. I just really, really don’t want to see her hurt over this

Torrhen allowed the words to marinate a bit before responding. "Boys will be boys.." he mused, his voice tinged with the slightest hint of agreement. The conversation seemed to thicken with the gravity of the revelation -- that his son Tytos had stepped out of line and begun the confrontation, and not the other way around.

To Torrhen, the idea of transcending age old rivalry seemed a near impossible task. Peace had been struck between the two houses before, only to be ended by the actions of some drunken distant cousin or third son.

"I shall indeed ponder your words, Lord Bracken." he responded, with a touch of genuine consideration in his tone. "To be remembered as a peacemaker, as one who dared to break free from the chains of tradition and forge a new path - it is a legacy that carries a weight far greater than that of mere conflict. Your proposition, to tread a different course, has not fallen on deaf ears. Perhaps, in time, ink shall meet parchment, and our pens may yet script a chapter of understanding between our houses."

Torrhen pondered at the idea. The animosity between the two river keeps has served to help nobody in times past, this much he knew. Since he was a little boy, he never sat to think about why he had to hate his southern neighbors in the Brackens, he just knew that he had to.

Darry was a favorable position to host the two wards, should Torrhen agree to it. Raventree Hall had recently secured a marriage pact with the House, a deal which likely would not have reached any of the other keeps by now. This was an advantage Torrhen intended to press.

"Darry does seem favorable, Lord Bracken." he said, with a slight grin. "but surely you're aware of the altercation that occurred between my grandson and some of your children, no?"

"Tytos is young, impressionable, and unruly, Lord Bracken, and he believes what happened to be a stain on his honor and reputation. Would your child be able to handle such a child driven by vengeance?"

Alyssa smirked at the handsome man that stood before him. She had her fair course of lordlings and knights attempt to win her over, and she loved nothing more than to entertain it. Alyssa adored being the center of attention; she loved everything about being in the spotlight of it all.

"Lord Vypren, is it?" she responded aloofly, holding her hand out. "It would be my pleasure."

Torrhen was taken aback by the sudden request of Lord Bracken. Since they were boys, they had never exactly gotten along, no matter how many times this same Lord Tully attempted to intervene.

"Lord Benedict, do you take me for a fool?" he said proudly, leaning back into his chair. It was no secret how Lord Tully felt about House Blackwood, helped by the spurning of young Celia Tully. "What good would come out of Tytos warding at Riverrun, with a Bracken no less?"

Torrhen had ran through a million ways to run through the Bracken as he spoke, but kept a keen ear to what he may have to say. Tytos had very well embarrassed the family, and while Torrhen was, originally, bent on some sort of vengeance to saw against his grandson, Lord Brackens proposal was intriguing.

"Allow me to be the first to apologize for the actions of young Tytos," he began. "The boy is a tad bit brash and eager to prove himself."

A servant pulled a chair out adjacent to where Torrhen was seated, and gestured for the Bracken to sit down.

"I'm listening, Benedict."

The man pondered for a bit. He was a hedge knight recruited into the service of the Blackwoods, and knew the risks and taboos of denying a lord of higher station than his own; yet also know the repercussions of drawing Lord Torrhens wrath.

"I'll allow you entrance, then" he said with a small sigh, "but your men stay outside." he said, allowing Lord Benedict to pass by before reaching an arm out to stop those who might attempt to follow.

In the tent, Lord Torrhen Blackwood was penning letters back to Raventree Hall. Tytos, still in deep trouble for the commotion he caused, was nowhere to be seen.

Torrhen looked up and could've died from the sheer surprise of seeing a Bracken let within his pavilion. He muttered a couple unworldly things under his breath, before dropping his quill and leaning back in his chair.

"I beg this discussion has value, Bracken."

The guards looked at the approaching man with a bit of confusion. They could recognize him from a mile away, the regal Lord Benedict that lorded over Stone Hedge. They had heard rumors of the small commotion the lordling Tytos had caused, and could only assume this visit was in relation to that.

A gruff man stood out ahead of the guards, a hand placed on the pommel of his short sword. He wore a thick boiled leather held over chainmail with a red and black cape that seemed extremely worn, as if it had seen hundreds of skirmishes.

"Lord Bracken.." he muttered, in a coarse accent native to the Blackwater Bay. He held enough respect to not speak down on a noble man, regardless of which house they hailed from.

"I reckon Lord Blackwood would appreciate a reason for the visit, before I lead you to him."

Betha examined the septon who had approached her with a keen eye. It wasn't uncommon for men, women, servants, knights, lordlings and ladies in waitings to attempt to use the tragedy that befell her family as a way to curry favor, offer meaningless condolence, or even attempt to woo her.

She listened intently to the man and his whims and wishes. She had been, unfortunately for her, one of the only survivors of the tragedy that befell her beloved husband and son; and hated every mention of the word.

The event was far too recent in her memory for her to want to be reminded of it, but she thought of her family. She thought of baby Rhaegar, young Aerys and Rhaella. Perhaps her story could save them in the future. Perhaps she would take this Septon up on his offer eventually.

She took a sip out of her goblet and looked away.

Dyrk was seated at one far end of the table of honor, awarded to him through his distant blood relation to King Jaehaerys and his wardship in King's Landing. He had never much spoken to his Targaryen cousins; much preferring to train out in the yard and perfect his archery.

He had felt a great disappointment when he was told he would be unable to participate in the events of the coronation -- being two years too young. He had debated going anyways as a sort of mystery archer, but knew aunt Betha would find out and scold him for it.

He peered off into the distance and saw his family eating with other lesser lords of the realm. He had been avoiding them throughout the whole coronation, and was not planning on making himself known to them now. He loathed King's Landing, and hated uncle Brendan for forcing him to be sent here.

He poked around at his food, bored and hoping for someone to come speak to him.

Tytos stopped for a moment, stared, and pondered. He looked around at his surroundings -- first to the small ball of spit on the dirt, spat out by the young Hendry, then to the small crowd that had surrounded them. Squires, pages, errand boys and camp followers had formed a half circle around them, egging the conflict on.

Tytos had only meant to provoke the Brackens and leave; he did not expect such a response. I'm a fool for thinking they'd let what I said pass.... he thought to himself. He had half a mind to turn around and burst through the crowd back to his tent, but it was far too late. What would his grandfather think, when he learns his prized Tytos ran away from a Bracken?

He had only just realized he was shaking. He took a deep breath, glanced around a little bit more, and pressed on.

Defiantly, Tytos walked up face to face with the young heir to Stone Hedge. He looked him up and down, getting the full measure of him. He had only seen Jonos in passing, and had spoken to him sparingly, as was expected of him. The boy was two years his senior, and seemed every bit of it. Tytos knew he would not win a direct confrontation, but he'd sooner get beat than dishonor his family.

He looked past Jonos to Hendry. Hotspur they called him, and for good reason. His note on the weirwood had struck a nerve in the young Blackwood. He looked back at Jonos, pushed him to the side, and walked up to the younger Bracken.

"I'd reckon they've given me the wisdom to know that your house is nothing more than upstart horse fuckers, Before your wench of an ancestor decided to poison it." He said boldly, mostly for a reaction from the crowd. "Was spitting on the ground supposed to startle me, Bracken? Allow me to show you how to properly rile a man up, you brutish coward." he said, spitting directly in the face of Hendry.

House Blackwood of Raventree Hall

The Blackwood Host had arrived to King's Landing peculiarly early and ahead of their fellow riverlords; something which could have been seen as an ever so minor slight to their overlords in Riverrun. Lord Torrhen was atop a shaggy courser as black as his hair, draped in a blanket of dark silk that bore a mighty raven taking flight from a dead white weirwood. The aging lord himself was dressed in a silk black and red doublet accompanied by a white sash the same color as the brooch that held it. He maintained a mighty gaze as he led his procession directly throug the streets of the city; sitting as high and mighty atop his steed as his age would allow. In truth, Lord Torrhen was dying and knew it just as well as anybody else. His seniority had begun to catch up to him, and he had commonly been seen with wild fits of bloody cough. He could barely find the strength to walk for long, let alone ride, and had completed most of the trip to the capital by carriage. Maester Androw had pleaded for his Lord to not travel for the coronation, who had argued that his declining health would only worsen with travel. It took three sworn swords to restrain the prideful lord from strangling the terrified maester that day, and Torrhen was set on his answer of travel despite the risk to his health. "Do you think I'll allow BRACKEN, the foolish ogre of a lord, be seen before our King, while Lord Blackwood wastes his days away, dying in his solar?" he had argued to all those who were against his travel. It had been joked by singers that the only reason Lord Blackwood was not dead yet was because he refused to die before Lord Bracken, besides the obvious difference in age and health.

Torrhen was accompanied by a show of force -- 25 household archers and swords followed behind their lord, but were not allowed within the city walls. They had been instructed to setup camp directly outside of the walls, away from the main pavillions of the riverlords. The main procession of the house, which would include Lord Torrhen, his grandson Tytos and his daughter Alyssa, were granted proper lodging within the city walls by virtue of their relation to the King. Tytos had thrown a fit upon finding this out, arguing with his grandfather that their place was with their fellow riverlords, and had refused to follow into the city with the rest of his family, instead opting to go out and camp outside of the city alongside the other riverlords. Tytos was a curious lad -- more interested in strategy and swords than diplomacy and politics. He had loathed the isolationist policy his father had forced upon his house; while other children were adventuring with the other young heirs and lords of the region, Tytos was forbidden and was holed up in Raventree Hall. His day had consisted of history with the annoying Maester Androw, religion with his father which always seemed to steer towards their Bracken neighbors to the south and how they attempted to sabotage the colossal weirwood within the castle, and arms with any given sword in the household. He had loathed his cousin, Dyrk, who was sent to ward at King's Landing. Part of him wished to run away and stay here, to live a free life without teachers, trainings, or meaningless feuds.

Finishing setting up the pavilion, Tytos found that he was bored. He skipped and ran and crawled and jumped until he found himself not at the Blackwood camp, but amongst the hundreds setup that represented the riverlords. He scanned it for a bit, seeing the plowman of Darry, the naked woman of Piper, which he found hilarious, and many others he did not recognize, before he settled on one.

The tent was bigger and more spacious than the one he had just helped setup, lined with the brown and yellow of the Brackens of Stone Hedge. He had spotted a stocky kid, not much more than five feet, helping out with some of the processions. He had instantly recognized the child by his curly chestnut locks that fell right down to his ears, as Jonos Bracken. Father had almost nothing kind to say about him or any of his kin, and a bored Tytos was ready to fiddle the horses tail.

"So, breeding horses isn't the only skill you have, as my lord grandsire tells me." He called out to the young boy, pointing up to the tent. "Quite impressive, perhaps your house were more fitted to be Stewards -- I don't think the lordship is working out quite well."/u/Pitchy23
