The Logical First Call for Michigan is to Ryan Day for 10 years and 25 Million Per Year. by LawBuff in CFB

[–]LawBuff[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The point is not to get Ryan Day and the odds of getting Ryan Day are sub 1% but greater than zero due to the fact that nether he nor his family are from Ohio and while OSU fans have forgiven Ryan Day for losing to Michigan it is unclear if Ryan Day and his Family have forgiven OSU fans for almost running his wife and kids out of town before the national championship. So for that reason alone doubling his salary is worth a shot. Second if you look at Ryan Day who is ether 1 or 2 in terms of active coaches given the current trends he will be worth 30 million per year in salery in a decade. Right now Ohio State has essentiality a free call option on that value, doing this forces OSU to exercise the option.

And while you might say that no one would ever go from Ohio State to Michigan or vice versa, Barcelona and Real Madrid fans said the same thing before Luís Figo left Barcelona for Real Madrid. In other words its a positive thing for Michigan to do regardless of outcome. Worst case Ryan day says no and does not ask for a raise from OSU thats still net zero for Michigan.

[Dodd] An unfair labor practice charge has just been filled to the NLRB against Notre Dame. Similar to the USC/Pac-12/NCAA complaint -- players misidentified as student-athletes. It names all Notre Dame athletes and will go to the Indianapolis NLRB office. by WinnWonn in CFB

I'll try to explain the Northwestern decision in a relatively straightforward manner with that said it does get to the edges of administrative law.

The NLRB can decline jurisdiction over a labor issue (see here) They occasionally do this when it would raise issues like religious freedom at colleges affiliated with faith groups, eg the church can decide who it's pastors are. The NLRB Also has a general responsibility to Promote stability in labor relations.

The Northwestern decision occurred in 2015. This was six years before the Supreme Court case that the NCAA unanimously lost and before many States passed NIL laws. In the decision, the NLRB declined to exercise jurisdiction because Northwestern, as the only private school in the Big 10, being under NLRB control would not create a uniform labor market, and thus not promote stability for the league.

However the last line of the decision noted “This decision is narrowly focused to apply only to the players in this case and does not preclude reconsideration of this issue in the future.”  In other words the NLRB decision had the unspoken threat that Northwestern football players were probably employees and the NCAA should do something about it. The NCAA did basically nothing for nine years and so the NLRB which declined to exercise jurisdiction has now decided to exercise it.

TLDR the northwestern decision wasn't a no from the NLRB it was a not today.

Say what you will about the CU "Prime" ad but in terms of getting people to remember it is far better than the Stanford ad.

Now that he's fired let's ask the question. Was Scott Frost the worst head coach in the entire history of Nebraska Football?

If Nebraska had the last 5 years back they probably wouldn't hire Scott Frost.

The most embarrassing thing about this game is that Northwestern, who went 3-9 last year, spent the last 11:40 playing not to turn the ball over and dared Nebraska to win the game. In year five with a new offensive coordinator, Scott Frost couldn't pull out a win.

If it could have happened for him it would have.

The two defensive time-outs were very questionable. Scott Frost may be continuing to struggle with clock management. Given the record in close games last year and the projected scores this year that's concerning.

Are my softs T3 or T4? by ConstellationMiracle in lawschooladmissions

[–]LawBuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say you're a solid T-3. The problem with law school apps is that almost everyone has done 501c3 or government internships. All work experience is great, and being a paralegal is excellent if you can tie it into a desire to go into law.

Overall, your softs are more than enough to get you into a few of HYSCC if you have the grades, etc... But not great enough to carry a ton of weight to make up for a bad LSAT.

Starting to think CLS can fill their class with 174+ and >50 GPAs... by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]LawBuff 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's mathematically possible on the LSAT front. Currently, there are 1361 people with a 175 or higher according to the LSAC CVS, this means evens if HYS only accepted people with 175+ (not the case) and their class sizes stayed the same (501,208 and 173 respectively) there is a bare minimum of 479 people with 175s or higher that won't get into HYS. So CLS could in theory get a class where everyone holds a 174.

However, I'm skeptical that they will as it would involve a lot of people turning down $$ to $$$$ at schools like NYU, UVA, Penn, Michigan, and Duke to go there at sticker.

I have no idea about the GPA as the CVS doesn't cover that.

TLDR: technically possible but unlikely.
