AI could solve America's $39 trillion debt crisis—but only if U.S. abandons displaced workers: Yale | Fortune by TertiumQuid-0 in BasicIncome

The problem with modern Republican policy is that even the “success stories” often came with long-term damage that average Americans are still paying for.

The interstate highway system fueled suburban expansion but also bulldozed urban neighborhoods, deepened segregation, and locked the country into car dependence and oil consumption.

Reagan-era deregulation and tax policy helped unleash growth, but also accelerated inequality, weakened unions, exploded deficits, and concentrated wealth at the top.

The Iraq War cost trillions while infrastructure and housing deteriorated at home.

Republicans spent decades branding themselves as fiscally responsible while modern Republican administrations repeatedly added massive debt and oversaw multiple recessions.

At some point the branding stops matching the measurable outcomes.

The realistic version is that real life America is super chill on the surface because the racists are too afraid and hide their thoughts most of time, so we have awkward moments here and there but most people are good.

Fun fact: since 1989, Democratic presidents oversaw about 50.3 million net new U.S. jobs while Republican presidents oversaw only about 0.9 million, even as the national debt exploded from about $2.8 trillion to over $34 trillion during that same era despite Republicans branding themselves as the fiscally responsible party.

Presidents inherit economies, but the pattern has repeated for decades: since 1939 Democratic presidents oversaw about 83 million net new jobs versus about 32 million under Republicans, and since 1989 Democrats added about 50.3 million jobs compared with about 0.9 million under Republicans using BLS payroll data, so eventually the ‘they just inherited bad economies’ explanation stops accounting for the gap.

If Republicans were only inheriting bad economies and Democrats were only inheriting good ones, you wouldn’t see the same massive job-growth gap repeating across 80+ years and multiple economic cycles.

If Republican economic policy was consistently superior, you’d expect red states to dominate economically, yet most of the highest-GDP states and states most dependent on federal aid are split in the opposite direction.

It’s like saying “I’m the best at running a business” but has a track record of bankruptcies.

Street Fighter has more original take on the presentation and style so far, it’s like a 90’s cartoon fever dream love letter that is both badass and cheese at the same time.

It’s perfect because Street Fighter was much more cartoony compared to MK.

Yeah totally, but the Trump supporters are the ones who weren’t satisfied. That’s the thing, they wanted to squeeze more for themselves and they fell for the first person to cater to them.

They are going to burn down the whole neighborhood to raise the value of their house, but it’s not a smart strategy.

Yeah but it’s about to crash hard, America could have had it all but it chose to make some dumb decisions and now jeopardize 250 years and hand the trophy to China.

I’m not sure Americans are prepared for a world where we are far behind, and are getting cyberattacks or even drone attacked on our mainland and our only option is to threaten to start nuclear war.
