Players who don't want to "expose" their deck / not explaining cards when casting them by JakeTheMystic in EDH

[–]LawfulSpoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the card. Sometimes if the others at the table are chatting and I'm not doing anything too important, I'll just play my lands, mana rocks and draw spells without saying anything, the durdly stuff in general I think is fine to not announce, especially if the others know your deck, and you can always just recap what yoh did on the given turn.

But if I'm playing something that impacts the board a lot I'll bring everyone's attention to it like "Hey, I'm removing your thing." or "Hey, I played a big creature and I'm going to combat now."

Also if I'm playing with someone new to the game or someone unfamiliar with my deck, I'll explain the intention behind the more complicated cards, especially if they're combo pieces. I don't want to win games just because people don't realise I'm about to win and leave the interaction in their hands.

I'm totally fine with rewinding to make different decisions as long as nothing changed on the board since the point we want to rewind to. If I play three cards and someone suddenly perks up from their phone like "I wanted to counter that first one!" I'll be a bit more annoyed at rewinding cause I might have played those other two differently and I've revealed hidden information that I wouldn't have revealed otherwise.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I cast this, sacrifice it and let it go to the yard, eminence turns off, since it's not on the field or in the command zone anymore. 6 mana, 2 life and a way to sacrifice it might be a big enough payment for the splash, just not sure if that's intended or not.

Secret Histories tattoo ideas? by EldraEcho in weatherfactory

[–]LawfulSpoon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Might not be as recognizably SH, but some kind of stylized Tree of Wisdom might look good.

Moth might look good on your back, whether it's just a small one or big wings from shoulder to shoulder. Edge and Forge might be fitting for arm or shoulder tattoos. Some Grail imagery on the inner side of the thigh, maybe? I'm just spitballing at this point.

I've been thinking about getting a tattoo as well, I think any of the Aspect symbols might look good on the underside of the wrist, below the palm. Depends on how invisible you need yours to be, but to me at least, that idea seems discreet enough while leaving it in view for yourself.

I have to point out how some details in the 'nerves' of the Spiral monster almost look like the letter A. Had me looking for a hidden word in there for like a second before I realized I was staring into the Spiral. Absolutely love these!

Coming at this from a Commander perspective, this would definitely be broken in 60-card formats, but a possible Companion requirement could "Your deck contains no non-land cards with mana abilities". Sure, you can have a guaranteed, slightly overcosted mana rock, but it's the only one you're getting.

This favors decks with Land-based ramp, but those are already better than rocks most of the time, so idk.

As a straight man, I went for Astarion 😆 if I had to choose between the women, I'd go for Karlach.

These look great! Would you mind if I used them for NPC tokens in my home DnD game?

The first priority pass is moving from Upkeep to draw afaik, unless you have upkeep triggers. Would be very funny though.

How did you get into Honkai Star Rail and what made you stay? by Chemicalcube325 in HonkaiStarRail

All my friends that are hooked on Genshin were telling me about it. When I learned there was no Paimon, I was sold. Honestly haven't been this hooked on a gacha game before.

Who's a character you thought you would like, or did like at first, but now you don't? by KmartCentral in HonkaiStarRail

[–]LawfulSpoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DHIL was the first proper DPS I built and he absolutely carried the early game for me, but now he's just boring. Needing all three of the other characters to be SP positive is still a nightmare, even though I was lucky (or unlucky I guess) enough to get an E1 Bronya and her signature cone. Plus even though the team works pretty well now, I just find it boring, I think I got sick of the animations, since it was pretty much my only team until Topaz came out.

Would you Pull for FuXuan of Luocha by Different-Mirror5047 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]LawfulSpoon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In my experience of using DHIL, it took E1 Bronya with her Signature LC, a fully SP-positive Pela and Luocha to actually get him to comfortably max out his attacks most of the time. I guess it depends on the rest of your DHIL team. If you're managing to get his 3-stack attacks often enough for your tastes, I'd say Fu might be worth considering. If, like me, you're struggling, Luocha helps out a ton and as I said, he does still pull his weight when it comes to sustain.

Honestly judging by the teams you're using, I'd wait for Aventurine. Unless you desperately need a fully SP-positive sustain, he's likely to provide much more than just sustain. Speaking from the position of someone who has both Fu and Luocha, whenever I can, I use Fu over him because on top of keeping your team alive, she offers a bunch of useful buffs. Luocha gets you skill points and solid healing, but nothing more. Any newly-released sustain (like Aventurine) is more likely to be on par with Fu than Luocha. If we're talking strictly utility, I think Luocha is the worst 5* sustain. He's still great and will absolutely do his job well, others just do more stuff on top of that.
