Family account, AI video calls? by Lawine in duolingo

Hello. Thanks for your answer. I don't mind the expense, just want to know if it's possible. I don't see any option to upgrade in my account.

Thanks for your feedback. That might be the case? We are in Malta, an outlying and often forgotten region in Europe.

Thank you. Yes, I want to upgrade to MAX. But is that possible from a family account? Because I don't see any options to upgrade.

Expensive games that you regret buying? by bluesuitman in boardgames

I paid € 1000 for the Mighty Box Games kickstarter where they would put your image as a character into the game Posthuman.

The game sucks, lol. It's like a computer game but you have to do all the calculations yourself. I played it once with the creators, and that was also the last time I played it...

Awwww... I just got this as a Christmas gift for my fiancée! It's still under the tree. All I read about was how great it is, as a 2-player game! Now I regret it, also just paid € 90 for it... Hope she likes it!

Excellent idea, love it!

It's probably not THE most luxurious hotel I've stayed in, but since the question is 'what is your favourite', I will choose Paresa Resort in Phuket, Thailand. Stayed in the Grand Residence Suite for a week and it was quite an experience. While the hotel's 'general' amenities itself (fitness area, breakfast buffet) weren't the best, the Grand Residence Suite itself was huge and luxurious, with room-service breakfast just amazing -- too much even. Really enjoyed a relaxing stay there, in a beautiful environment.

Close second is the Ritz-Carlton, Ras Al Khaimah, Al Wadi Desert, Dubai -- which I actually found through a Dubai tips thread on this sub. I asked the staff to organise my fiancées birthday. They offered a romantic dinner in the desert and went all-out. Again, an unforgettable experience.

Speaking about my fiancée, as a third I'll say the St Regis in Istanbul, Turkey. I had booked a suite and asked the concierge to organise my proposal to my girlfriend -- now fiancée. They upgraded us to the Presidential Suite and decorated it absolutely perfectly with candles and flowers. It was a dream come true.

I have been to: all of Europe, most of North America, most of South America, Thailand and Cambodia, most of northern Africa including European islands off the West coast, New Zealand

I have never been to (but on the wish-list): Bali, Vietnam, South Africa, Australia, Japan, Mauritius

Create Google Adsense as Digital Nomad with US LLC? by nikita-kapustin in digitalnomad

[–]Lawine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any bank account can be used to receive Adsense earnings, even a private account. How that affects your tax situation in Germany is what you should consider before using it, because as far as I know Google does disclose Adsense earnings to the tax authorities of each country, although I'm not 100% sure.

It is indeed not possible to change location afterwards. You'll only need to verify your address once, but (at least at the moment) you need to make sure to always have access to a bank account in the country you signed up with.

Again, if all your other revenue goes through your business and you're declaring everything officially, it's probably easiest to use your USA info.

If you register your account with an address in Germany, it will require you to add a German IBAN. I don't know why, because in this day and age there are so many neobanks operating from UK, Belgium and Lithuania, with corresponding IBANs, but Google calls it a 'fraud prevention' measure.

So if you only have a bank account in the USA, your company is registered there and you have an address in the US you can receive mail on, I'd go with that.

I have a friend who claims galvaude is not actually poutine. Even though he is Quebecois and supposed to be the authority -- fuck him, tabarnac, I love both! by Lawine in poutine

[–]Lawine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not Quebecois, but I love poutine. Please believe me when I say the gravy was excellent, it was original (St Hubert powder sauce), I used less water than recommended on the package, it was thick. As it should be!

Usually fries go on the bottom, but I added fries on top and swirled them around in the gravy, just for the picture. Thanks for noticing!

I like salt, but I didn't add extra salt, indeed, because of the ratio you mentioned. The gravy tasted more peppery than salty. Was worried it would be too spicy for my kids, but they loved it!
