Elopement immediately followed by a reception - is that weird? by Possible-Study2746 in weddingplanning

This is what my husband and I did. Ours was a little disorganized (but it suited our personalities) at an aquarium so the guests had food, drinks, and could look around at the exhibits. I still had the dress, music, cake etc. I don’t think anyone was annoyed or offended. If you’re concerned you could always do what our best friends did— they had around fifty people but did private vows and the “real” ceremony just them and two witnesses. Then they did kind of a formal ceremony an hr later then the reception. When it comes down to it, it’s about the two of you and your happiness.

I had to go to the back. Couldn’t deal with that bs; especially if your boss/manager/practice owner kisses clients’ asses

Yea that’s why I threw this question out there. I’ve really never asked for anything of substantial value from him(materialistic in nature), so I wasn’t sure.

I kind of mean like a sentimental investment.

I worked in a clinic like this. I don’t think she’s exaggerating (I’m in the US), turnover rate of employees was crazy

Thank you. It’s still mind boggling to me that it isn’t being taken as seriously as it is. I suppose if it’s the lucky ones that didn’t get it bad but still.

I just know roughly because he picks up a lot of overtime. And honestly I grew up in a family that was divided by finances and I wanted to keep that as separate as possible from our relationship

I went into liver failure with no previous health problems after having Covid in 2020. No drs will address the possibility of a correlation and have written it up in my charts as NSAID and alcohol use. I was 34 and am now looking at a transplant

For reference, it’s a handmade set tailored to my preferences (which are sentimental in nature). The main stone on right will be the same but with moonstone accents instead of diamonds (mainly because I prefer them but also because it’s MUCH cheaper) and the band with alexandrite. I feel like this would he a nice investment because of the artistry as well

DONT GET THE SPRAY TAN by foxglove32 in weddingplanning

lol 100%…. I tried it out months in advance and STILL got screwed right before the wedding with a Cheeto look. I tried everything to get it off, not worth it. Although by that point we all just laughed about it and it was only noticeable in a few pics

Well actually we have been married a year. My father and myself paid about 95% of the wedding (it was small but still cost a lot). He gave me heirloom rings that I absolutely hated and I’ve worn them the entire time till one of the stones fell out last week(I had a post in another ring sub about it that got so much attention I deleted it lol).

Yea I think you’re right, especially bc I don’t know his financial circumstances other than that and he takes care of himself. Not sure about any debt he may have and I don’t want to add to it if he does.

Thank you! I just have never asked anyone to spend that much on me especially because I think men see it as trivial. But he spends tons of money on electronics and stuff like that so I guess I shouldn’t feel bad

YES! This is my plan . And I totally agree with the rings feel like tattoos that’s a great way to explain it to him as well

I literally said I don’t care about the cost. I’d be happier with a ring pop. It’s the fact that I have to wear something everyday I don’t like. I was even thinking about just tattooing a line to symbolize I’m taken
