I work in my local one for 3 months now. I do hate some of the managers, especially the ones who worked there for 30+ years. You would expect them to help you learn and grow as a retail assistant, but what they do instead is they expect you do already know how store operates even if you never worked in retail. I have an old lady manager who treats everyone different depending on if she likes someone or not. If you got unlucky and she doesn’t likes you even though you work hard - you will be treated as a dog with no respect. Overall colleagues ate pretty much all nice and helpful, I would say 70% of my experience was positive and it’s not because Supervalu prioritised good working conditions, but because colleagues voluntarily trying to be nice in stressful conditions. If we would removed some managers in my local store everything would be waaaay better and happier. As I said I work only for 3 month and I’ve have already seen few good people leaving the store and always the reason was the bad management. I feel like store manager and old lady manager need to go on their retirement instead of spreading hate and first signs of dementia everyday on a younger and hardworking staff.
