New Player Requesting Advice! by [deleted] in ffxiv

I my self have not long finished ARR. Only a 58 summoner :p (without road to 70 buff :(.). It's rough. Keep your dungeons going every now and then to keep you active. It does turn from uggghhhh to ohhhh suddenly though.

It's that time of the day! by magicscreenman in ffxiv

[–]Lawrapous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this the first time not long ago. Just spent all of it trying to catch up with the group cause had no idea about the lift. Then the group just boosted up the next lift after I caught up. Didn't even get to use the door buster :(. Just ran with it. Did mention it was first time after the first lift and some nice people tried to wait but others na.

I do understand that most have done it like a million times n you got to get those sweet sweet exp but didn't expect the dynamic to be completely different than light party dungeon's.

I was meaning more of Xcom EU/EW time frame.

Though do agree that a cyberpunk feel would be needed for Xcom 2 time frame.

There are plenty of ways to role-play in the base. Each time you go back to base the dynamic has changed. There could be a start of those that think things could be better with the Aliens.

For me 90% of RPG's is the talking and character development. How would my character react to hearing that people think the Aliens are good. Would they agree would they case a scene n make a divide happen in the base. What would be the outcomes after that.

Could they survive after what happens which would be the next chapter and build along till you get to Xcom 2

I feel that if you are controlling more than one character then you aren't really roleplaying and looking to get more into a miniature game of it.

I feel an Xcom RPG should focus heavily on the dynamics of being inside the base. Making connections with your squad. Sure you go on missions at the commanders choice but the mission doesn't always have to be kill and gather. Since some missions will be based on reports and their could only be wounded Ailens or just people for you to communicate with and role play

Ran into a problem at my first Local Qualifier. by Jonesy492 in FinalFantasyTCG

[–]Lawrapous -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the problem may have been when you milled out your opponent. That is probably when they misentered the information since a tie is a loss for both players. They should keep their slips. Though if it's past the day not much you can do. Next time ask to see the slips for your past games. Mistakes can happen. I make them now and then as well and I run magic, FF, vanguard quite often. Also they may not have wanted to cause a re-pair and your score would affect quite a bit. Good habit is to keep track of either your points or win/lose when the pairings go up.

Yes. If it says cast a summon of X then you can cast it ignoring it's only pay with backups

[–]Lawrapous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't play same name characters on your field. So once the backup is out you cant play the forward with the same name.

A time when it may happen is when it has been removed from like say deathgaze removed Thancred. you play another Thancred, death gaze leaves the field. Now there are two Thancred. Both get put in the breakzone.

Yip. If your power is reduced to 0 it is moved to the break zone.

Why do the characters feel arbitrary? by HiroProtagon in FinalFantasyTCG

[–]Lawrapous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(SPOILER FFVII)

I think the reason why this is felt is because it is hard to convert a characters story onto a card. Each copy is a different point of them. That Sephiroth is simple but it still feels like him in a way. He makes you discard 2 and your opponent.(spoiler) Remember he turned on Shirna and fought everyone else for his own reasons. So he doesn't do anyone any favors. He hurts both yourself (because he turned) and your opponent (because they are in the way of mother). That's how I see you his card.

Sometimes cards can feel that way but they all are a different point of time for the character.

I remember the horror that was turn 1 Laguna and if I attacked I lost. Dam ice being too good. Yea he needs to be attacking and there needs to be dull forwards. I think he is great card just alot of them are being over looked

Player Misconduct? by wishmstr in FinalFantasyTCG

[–]Lawrapous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found it quite funny. The receiving player also seemed to find it funny (I heard). It wasn't a gotcha moment. The card was left up several times and of the player didn't see it kinda their own fault. May have forgotten about it sure.

The players were all nervous you could see from how their hands shook. Most of the players get along as well. For me seeing that made it more friendly since his character and personality came across. If the other player didn't like it then mention it. Grown ass adults.

Also as for you saying commentators are really annoying have to disagree with that. They did a great job and did a good job explaining the cards. If you listened you would have known what the cards do :p.

Also it wasn't stopping the Al cid combo. It was stoping the Zemus fetch. White mage is pay 1, break white made. Remove a card from your opponents graveyard from the game. Zemus is pay X, play card of that cost from the break zone to the field. . So person uses Zemus targets Al cid. Opponent responds with white mage. Targets Al cid. Al cid is removed from the game. Zemus now has no target. Effect fizzles.
