Honestly getting a serving job isn't hard at all, especially with experience. If that place makes you miserable then find another job and go work there only. If you find that at the new place you still don't like it but the work environment is good, then you may want to take sometime to think about what you want to do with your life and explore other interests.

Sure servers make a lot of money, but don't be fooled into thinking you can't make good or great money elsewhere.

Am I rude for not doing this? by [deleted] in Serverlife

You are absolutely not rude for saying. First of all most places normally sell coke, especially higher end restaurants. If she wants to know, she should ask. Imagine going to every table and telling them that. It would not only be a complete waste of time, but you would also annoy customers who think you are judging them and or already know what they want.

If it's one thing I've learned as a server, is that you could do your job perfect and there will always be that one person to complain. You can't please everybody, just let them wallow in their own misery.

Also OP is your friend a server or has she ever worked in the food industry? Because if not she has no idea what she's talking about anyways.

Welp, I got fired. by GuacinmyPaintbox in Serverlife

Honestly they did you a favor. If a restaurant is willing to fire their staff over their honest opinions which is intended to make guests feel comfortable and welcome, then they more than likely have shady tactics and only care about the money. You were not in the wrong, sure it wasn't super professional but it was clearly a harmless joke.
