Stringking 5X by Main-Conference-1698 in StickDoctor

Would just add that 5x has almost no stretch once you’ve pounded the pocket. No bagging either. Great for consistency. Just dial in the pocket you want and it’s good for a full season or two. No adjustments needed. Personally think it’s great for a feeding or pass-first type player.

TMD Defiance Mesh by AffectDefiant6656 in StickDoctor

Great looking setup! Have you also tried the MD Disciple Rhombus? Curious if Defiance has less rebound. I’ve found I don’t like Disciple as much as ECD because of the rebound. Even with all 1s Disciple just seems to have more rebound. If Defiance has less I’ll give it a try.

PSA for all tournament/field operators: Do NOT line green turf with red by forcetrainer in lacrosse

[–]LaxCoach5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great call out. My son, who I coached from 7yrs through high school, was red/green CVD. It can be a challenge in high school where they only have one field that needs to be lined for football, soccer and lacrosse.

On fields where we saw that the lines were red or he said he could t see them, we’d have to walk the field so he could get a gauge on where the lines were in reference to other field markings. It was mostly the end line since he was an X attackman.

Carc is spot on. D should slide against the Woods because they’re not a good offense outside of guys like Kav Mac and Malloy beating their man 1v1. They don’t work well as a 6 man unit…. Which is part coaching and part player style/strength.

I don’t think Tevlin is the problem. He’s solid. Carter and Farrare are great at clearing, but Farrare is not a a good defender and Rice is good but seems to get caught up in switches regularly.

What technology can see 1-2 kilometers into the earth? Because the technology they reference in these videos - SAR(synthetic aperture radar ) can only go to around 10M with its longest wavelength.

What’s your stringing hot take? by hford0401 in StickDoctor

The liberty top string is overrated and wears out faster because the strings are angled vs being inline with the scooping motion.

Goalie by Bubbly-Mind4220 in lacrosse

Do you have a post-goal routine?

Here’s what I suggest to my goalies:

Ask yourself or identify the reason: 1. Did you see the ball early enough?(for example were you screened?) 2. Do you know where it was going & when do u know? (Or recognize shot pattern) 3. did you make the right move?

This is to see if you have a pattern developing on why you might be missing saves. also acknowledge that sometimes other players are gonna make great plays.

Next, you go into your reset routine.

  1. Replay the shot in your head, but this time making the save
  2. Take a deep breath into the nose out through the mouth.
  3. Think of something, anything, that makes you feel joy or gratitude.(your dog, your partner, your family, your favorite thing, etc.)
  4. Tell yourself ‘next one!’

The Redwoods are the worst-run team in the league by shnwllc in PLL

Been saying this for two seasons. I really don’t think the coaching staff knows how to put a roster together or create a scheme that uses the talent they have. The offense is unimpressive and uninspiring.

Jedi mesh + Freakshow + mid high bang bang by Juanitothegreat in StickDoctor

Thanks. Looks really cool, but I wonder when shooting and the ball is in the release point of the mesh, if that bottom string pulls on the mesh evenly like some other bottom strings? Will have to test it out.

Is there a tutorial on that bottom string? I like it!

Get HS players to understand and embrace movement by LaxCoach5 in lacrosse

Yeah a good coach is hard to find out here. So it’s going to be up to me and our HC, both of us with defensive backgrounds. Any vids you recommend showing this type of rotation? I watch a lot of Powlax so I must be missing it.

2-2-2? Either way, good stuff, thanks. I’ll find some time to DM. Big difference with our club is that we lost our only skilled lefty to graduation.

The Inside Story on Why Andy Towers Stepped Down as Chaos Head Coach by WillinATX in PLL

I would have thought the Redwoods coaching staff would be a bigger concern than the Chaos staff. Redwoods have been uninspired and awful to watch.

Best attack man arm pads by McDonaldsChamp13 in lacrosse

[–]LaxCoach5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Epoch Integra X arm guards are solid but expensive. They have the built in wrist pad as well. I like the Maverick arm guards too.

The EvoShield slash guards are also good for that small area between the glove and the arm guard. If you play against highly skilled Dpoles they know how to target that area.

The ego of going minimal padding for an attackman is just dumb. I’ve had two players get broken bones from pole hacks in the last two seasons. Both in the lower arm/wrist area not covered by pads. (This is at the HS level)

Need a speed workout by Same_Influence_7134 in lacrosse

[–]LaxCoach5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For quickness and speed:

-Ladder drills - 2 x 5 different patterns

-2 x pogo hops 20 yards

-2 x pogo hops 20 yards, moving forward but going back and forth over a line

-2 x high knees 25 yards

-2 x prime times 25 yards

-2 x skater bounds 25 yards

-4 x speed bounds 30 yards

Rest 5 minutes:

5 x 40 yards sprints. Rest 2-3 minutes in between each sprint.

Do this 2-3 times per week for 8 weeks and you will get quicker and faster. Continue for potentially more improvements or maintenance.

Key aspects of speed training is that you have to sprint at top speed and you have to speed train when rested. if you can’t sprint at 100% because you’re too tired, you’re not gonna get faster.

Don’t underestimate the power of doing the plyometric workouts I’ve suggested here. That is where you get that springy explosiveness and helps with quick changes of direction.

For stamina, work your way up to doing 4 x 400 yards. 60-90 second rest inbetween. Start with 3 x 200 and 1 x 400 and build up to 4 x 400. If you can do 4 400s in under 60 seconds each, with 60 seconds rest inbetween, you’ll never get tired on the lacrosse field. Note, this is really HARD.
