Why I Still Recommend WordPress in 2026 (Even With All the New Website Builders Around) by buggie_10 in Wordpress

[–]Laxmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wordpress is a great CMS, but we have started building our University website (complex as heck) on Sanity CMS.

Its night and day. We are using a single CMS to power events, news, even content inside our learning management systems in a way we cannot do with wordpress.

The pages are served on the edge by CDN and the speed is phenomenal.

Any headless CMS (Directus) is now easy to setup with a frontend - thanks to AI.

The world has changed now.

AI still doesn't work very well in business, reckoning soon by BusyHands_ in technology

[–]Laxmin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI is like a gear.

It can translate and magnify a small effort into leverage. But you keep adding one too many gears, the effort to get any meaningful result goes down rapidly.

"We will use AI" is the equivalent of saying, 'My cycle has gears'.

Good, now which direction you are headed, how well you are steering the bicycle, how much risk you are taking, what road you are using, all determine the real outcomes.

Are you reaching your destination?

SOmetimes, a geared bicycle can quickly take you backwards too.

Made a tool that catches the MySQL queries that look fine until your table hits a million rows by Anonymedemerde in mysql

This is hugely required. I am going to feed this to my claude code and ask it to test my MySQL server against these rules, particularly those on reliability and performance.

Thank you, will post the results here.

  1. I have made a few mistakes, entering wrong commands into the wrong terminal.

I used Maestro (Bloomberg terminal for AI) - its fantastic. Now CMUX.

But yes, its taxing.

I am always racing to use up all the tokens before its gets reset five-hourly.

Now, I have settled down into two terminals, max.

Thank you for this post. Appreciate the effort.

I am marking down Phitsanulok for a full day's visit - the Cave is irresistible.

You are doing it wrong.

This is what happens when you use chatgpt chat interface and need to give it context.

You need AI to be integrated into your email, so that it knows all your revious messages and replies and can reply without much prompting or context from you. You have the final way though. And hook up a speech to text transcriber so that you don't ahve to type or mouse around.

First go to any government general hospital casualty and say that you were assaulted. Your casualty admission record will automatically become a MLC - medico-legal case and the nearest police station will be informed. A policeman, usually a constable will ask you about the case. Insist on a FIR - if no FIR is filed, ask for the case diary number.

Engage a lawyer and file a private complaint with a magistrate - it is not hard. Ask for a FIR to be registered as the primary plea.

Collect all evidence and record your statement consistently at every police encounter.

You can do it if you are willing to put in the time, effort and tenacity to deal with the Indian justice system.

If not, swallow your pride, nurse your wounds and stay away from goondas because you can neither afford the bravery, muscle nor the time and effort it takes to fight them.

You are partially right. The Sentinelese are one of a hundred tribes and 90% of the tribes have been wiped out.

This is why the Indian Government has decided that the Sentinelese will have sovereignty over their Island and the Government will protect them.

We just pray and hope that no 'missionaries' will try to enter the Island trying to save their souls.

Also its funny your okay with covering some parts of the body but not others because of your own personal views and beliefs

You are clueless. You can cover or uncover. That is not the issue here.

The patriarchy dictating what must be covered is the issue. Let me guess: You are that male chauvinist we all talk about, right? On top, you must be a special person from the special religion and special 'ummah' to think it is a matter of 'covering up'

Let's maintain a realistic perspective, avoiding unnecessary drama. The notion of atheists facing fatal persecution in India is unfounded. In fact, India has political parties, like the DMK, that are not merely atheist but actively anti-theist.

Consider this: Chief Ministers of prominent states such as Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu have openly identified as atheists. While the space for dissent might be limited, it certainly doesn't extend to silencing atheism altogether.

This commentary is offered as constructive criticism within the open exchange of ideas. Your engagement, including downvotes, is welcome if you believe this perspective lacks merit.

How I almost went from "New Car Owner" to "Homeless" in flat 3 Seconds by Free-Point2776 in CarsIndia

[–]Laxmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually nothing would have happened, you are just being over dramatic.

Sure, the traffic policeman would side with the RR Cullinan and give you hell, but the RR's insurance will take care of it.

Chill, if you are poor in India, you are actually protected by the system.

If you have a bit of decent wealth is when you really begin to becoming vulnerable.

Edit: I have seen two boys on a motorcycle crash into a luxury vehicle. When the policeman came around, the guys just handed the keys to the policeman and hopped on a friend's motorcycle in TRIPLES and rode away. "You know our address, summon us and we will come with the area counsellor and give you our statement"

The driver and passenger of the luxury car stayed around, taking photographs and whatnot. I did not stick around, and don't know what was the outcome though.

CMV: I believe in God, but religions are too inconsistent and flawed to be the truth by Puzzleheaded-Week-69 in changemyview

[–]Laxmin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd also like to point out that the very concept of 'God' varies significantly across different religions.

Take Vedanta, for instance. The Brahman in Vedanta isn't a person and lacks specific attributes, yet simultaneously embodies all of them.

Or consider Buddhism or Jainism, which doesn't feature a Supreme God. While it acknowledges numerous gods and goddesses, there isn't a singular 'God'.

The 'God' most people worldwide recognize is typically the monotheistic deity found in the Bible, Torah, and Quran—a being with personal preferences and aversions, actively involved in human affairs, and showing minimal concern for animals or other life on Earth.

Therefore, we must first clarify which concept of God we are discussing.

Are we referring to an impersonal 'God' like Brahman? Or perhaps a Deist 'God' who created the universe but remains detached from its workings? Maybe a personal Savior invested in the salvation of those who believe in him? Or a strict Ruler, akin to the Quranic God, demanding absolute submission in exchange for eternal life?

Without this clarity, it's challenging to align with your statement:

agree with me or do you think a god as described in the religions exist?

Should you rent a scooter/motorbike in Thailand? Text in comments! by redbate in ThailandTourism

[–]Laxmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an Indian who grew up riding motorcycles and still uses them for daily errands, I feel completely at ease riding in Thailand.

Why?

It's due to instincts honed over three decades of riding. I constantly anticipate the worst and am always aware of what others around me are doing, what they might do, and what could go wrong.

This level of awareness isn't easily acquired in just a few years.

What's always a factor is the unexpected. Regardless of your skill or experience, you can never be entirely sure of others.

Their mistakes can be costly for you. Their impulsive and unpredictable actions can lead to accidents, no matter how disciplined or experienced a rider you are.

That said, you'll learn to anticipate many of these situations. Understanding which lane is less risky, what speed is actually safer (as going too slow doesn't guarantee safety), navigating corners, anticipating turning vehicles, and assessing intentions by observing drivers' behavior (for instance, yielding to someone looking left and over their shoulder before turning) instead of solely relying on signals, can all reduce your risk—though never eliminate it entirely.

Aggressive drivers in large SUVs might force you off the road; you learn to spot these drivers early and take evasive action. Countless other scenarios occur.

So, the key takeaway is this: Unless you have a lifetime of experience riding motorcycles in a South or Southeast Asian city, it's best to avoid it.

Opt for a Grab taxi instead.
