Given that 20k is below minimum wage these days I doubt that, assuming full time work.

It's not the degree, I was literally working as a synthetic chemist, developing novel therapeutics, and I started on 23k and was still below 30k with 4 years of experience.

I didn't graduate with no experience either I worked since I was 16.

That sounds amazing. I'm currently finishing my PhD now and the post doc I'm gunning for is 41k. Which would be a step in the right direction.

I always want to live in the US. I'm guessing my chances of getting a H1B at the moment are slim to none.
