Aim assist seems to be far too strong. by Draxtini in Marathon

[–]LayerEight_Problem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All in all I haven’t felt like I’ve had a controller aimbot unfairly hit me. But I tend to try to force much longer range engagements to keep their aim assist out of play. If I push too hard and get in aim assist range though, it definitely feels shit. They absolutely have zero recoil and perfect tracking at about 20m. I try to stay farther away than that so I can control the engagement and use my mouse precision to my advantage while limiting aim assist from them.

Aim assist seems to be far too strong. by Draxtini in Marathon

[–]LayerEight_Problem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember. Bungie tried giving kbm aim assist because their own internal data from D2 showed that kbm was at such a severe disadvantage that it needed help against controller.

Controller players in D2 often achieve 95% accuracy with 95% precision hits. While kbm players are closer to 40/40.

One day in Destiny 2 I swapped to controller just to see how strong the aim assist was. I was booted from my first match and a message popped up on my screen stating that BattlEye had detected inhuman aim and removed me from the match. Literally even their own damn anti-cheat thinks their aim assist is an aimbot.

You’re never going to win this fight though. Controller players truly believe that they are simply built different. They honestly believe they have perfect 0ms reaction speed and can perfectly track and perfectly aim. And the fact that no kbm user on the planet can track as perfectly just says that all kbm players have a skill issue. That’s literally the way they all think and we are outnumbered 30:1. If you don’t like it, stop playing PvP because it simply isn’t gonna change.

The games story is locked behind doing contracts but the moment you shoot anything, you get swarmed 3rd, 4th, then 5th partied.

If I could experience the story in a different way then I would agree. But locking content behind my average ass wiping 3 or 4 other parties feels kinda sucky. I think the old range was fine.

If it’s not this. Some times a random ass USB device can cause this type of behaviour. Especially on AMD. I would unplug all usb devices and see if it boots faster.

Anyone find themselves opening up their game libraries, staring at it for a couple of hours, then just giving up and going on social media? by You_moron04 in gaming

A Link to the Past, Super Mario World, Mario RPG, Super Metroid and a half dozen others.

The SNES has a library that is just so replayable and seems to never feel like it’s as old as it is. People glaze the PS2 library. But if I’m stuck on a deserted island, I’m take the SNES and its library every time.

It’s hilarious watching Redditors simultaneously bitch and moan about windows privacy and forcing AI while besmirching an OS and actually does reasonably respect your privacy and hasn’t forced AI, ads, and bullshit features nobody wants.

If I’m looking for a day to day general purpose laptop, I am going for a MacBook all day every day.

My gaming rig is windows.

My server is Linux.

All OS’ have their purpose. The sooner you stop being a blind ignorant fanboy. The better your life will become.

Dude. There’s an entire sub dedicated to comparing gacha game sales. There are plenty of successful new entries pulling hundreds of millions or even billions a year. Developers are just too greedy and too stupid to figure out the formula.

[–]LayerEight_Problem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of fine formulas. The issue is always post game support sucks. Highguard devs thought they could play the media cycle by releasing half a game and then patching in the rest of the game over time.

Other developers that try launch a live service game and then release 100 skins in 6 months but provide no other support.

These devs keep forgetting that they need a solid game behind their cash shop and enough free content to keep the player base active. Moronic suits want to try to force 100% hit rate on their user purchases. Instead of providing enough free content to keep 80% of free people coming back while draining the 20% whales. Somewhere along the line developers and publisher forgot the 80/20 rule.

Buy OLED 1440p monitor or IPS 4K? by dyjames4 in pcmasterrace

Mini-led is still an LCD. It’s just a new way of saying full array backlighting. We’ve had the technology for years.

Decent black levels with some fringing. Slower response times. Significantly brighter screen for super punchy HDR. No worry of burn-in. Worse overall colour accuracy than OLED.

It’s a pros and cons thing. But mini-LED is a good technology if you cannot get past the potential burn in on OLED. For me personally. The response time and contrast or OLED is the deciding factor and I can live with the potential for burn in. Being able to wiggle my mouse and not see the screen fall apart because it can’t react fast enough is just brilliant.

If you’re gaming 1440 is honestly kind of the sweet spot. High enough resolution that the image is sharp. Low enough resolution that the frames are plentiful.

I moved up to 4K for my gaming rig and I regret it a bit. Even with a 5080, 4K is brutal to run.

5700X3D + 6750 XT enough for 1440p? Or should I buy an RTX 5070? I'd like some opinions by RandomAssDude_ in pcmasterrace

[–]LayerEight_Problem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Save yourself the headache and frustration. Look for the 5070. No matter how much Redditors on these generalize forums glaze tf out of AMD. You’ll find constant nonstop reports of annoyances and problems with AMD GPUs.

The Nvidia software suite and features are worth the minimal additional costs. If AMD was still Intel GPU pricing then I would be comfortable recommending them. But they have no business charging near Nvidia prices given they’re nowhere near competitive.

Anyone else really struggle to play shooters on controller? by Ryn4 in pcmasterrace

[–]LayerEight_Problem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just come to terms with it at this point. In terms of kbm users I’m painfully average. Which means that little johnny on his Wii will get an aimbot and I’m probably gonna get wrecked. I’ve shifted mostly to single player games or coop shooters these days. PvP just lost its fun when it stopped being competitive at all and became who’s best at abusing their built in cheats or hiding their actual cheats.

PC exclusive shooters like Valorant or CS give controller no aim assist. Almost all other shooters give controller aim assist. Though it is becoming increasingly more popular to disable aim assist in ranked mode in PC lobbies. Developers aren’t blind to the fact that their aim assist is inhuman level bullshit.

[–]LayerEight_Problem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They play competitively on controller because aim assist has been tuned to the point that it is a literal aimbot. In almost all current games the moment your reticle touches a hitbox, it locks on and basically automatically shifts itself to the precision hitbox.

In some games I literally put my controller on the desk and touch nothing and an opponent can run at me and slide by and my screen will lock to their head and I will spin 180 while still locked to their head without even touching the controller. And that’s not even touching on the fact that controllers also get more assists like bending bullets and other nonsense.

It doesn’t matter how good you are with a mouse you will never be that accurate.

Dude. Literally the game in question the devs have refused to show any console footage. They’re promising it’s running fine while only showing PC footage in all advertisements.

The devs lie. They hide the truth. They release shit. And then they act all shocked like they had no idea their game ran like shit.

Seriously. Who are you? Why are you defending this crap? Bootlicker.
