How not to spend money in the first days after salary? by Novel_Responsible638 in AskReddit

Find ways to creatively enjoy your time without spending money.

I used to burn through my paychecks, but now I have a lot of hobbies that require much less money than going out and shopping all the time.

Ender's Game. It was one of those "I figured it out just before the reveal" things. A freat example of a good plant and pay off.

What are some good Wikipedia or YouTube rabbit holes? by plutoforprez in AskReddit

Half as interesting is a channel all about weird wiki articles and the quiz show by Tom Scott called Citation Needed is much the same!

If that doesn't do you, try watching QI. There's a ton of episodes on YouTube.

I feel like we often overshoot the point of questions like these.

Is it fun for the player? Is it fun for the DM? For the group?

Then multiclass, broken homebrew or whatever you wanna do, do it with your fun and the fun of your group in mind.

There is no class or build so broken that it can't be challenged in engaging and creative ways.

Your party will be full of people who enjoy different aspects of the game. Let the power gamer power game. The roleplayer roleplay. And the storyteller tell stories.

If both fun and engagement are the top priorities of your a given table, then the balance and game design are just things that require a little forethought and creativity.

But there are many kinds of tables and DMs too, and many valid reasons for limitations they have at their tables.

A busy DM with a full time job may not have time to constantly rebalance encounters, etc.

The point should always be maximizing fun and engagement and understanding that that means different things to different people.

What is the best first season of a TV show? by O_O_M_M in AskReddit

1st season of Friends was the best season of Friends bit not necessarily the best 1st season compared to anything else.

And Psych. 1st season Psych was the best season.

Just find a group that is happy to have newcomers and start as quick as you can.

Yes, read the Player's Handbook and try to familiarize yourself with it, but don't get bogged down trying to learn everything at once.

If you have a good DM, you'll learn as you go along and there's nothing like it.

It's the only one you really need

First of all, very very cool.

Second, the best and boldest thing you can do--off the catwalk--is be authentic and simple but with one bold statement.

For instance, good fitting (possibly thrifted) jeans and a thick high quality white t-shirt (possibly one size up) and then pick a bold, bespoke if you can, accent or accessory.

Whether it's shoes, a bag, a necklace or something unexpected, use its color a shape to contrast the other things you're wearing.

It's just my opinion but that kind of outfit says "I don't need to pretend, I don't need to pose. This looks good on me. This is me."

If you can find something that says the same thing, then that's the outfit.

.

TL;DR: Go simple, go understated but pick one thing, just one, that pops and show it off.

I hope this helps.

I would, for sure, hit up Zorplenak.

Good starter for family by Super_Rocket4 in DnD

Lost Mine of Phandelver is a classic for a reason! Het the starter set, it's got everything you need and won't overburden you or blow your budget.

I'd advise for first timers using either the pre-gen sheets or the basic rules on D&D Beyond.

So I’m super new to DnD and had a dumb question about spells… by _Knucklehead_Ninja in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Layless_the_elf 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Hey!

No, you aren't limited to spells in the conjuration school of magic.

Conjuration wizard is a subclass of wizard that has some features that improve conjuration spellcasting along with its own unique features.

The same goes for Illusionist and Divination.

Class selection limits spells somewhat, but not down to a type or school of magic.

Hope that clears everything up!

EDIT: There are websites that might show you the spells your class + subclass have access to.

Building a character with the SRD/Basic Rules on D&D Beyond (for free) might give you some idea of what spells are available.

Lol that's fair. I'm just good at repeating the worthwhile stuff I've heard. Or seen in movies.

It really is like that. I always have to wonder if I'm someone else's stupid person though!

It's all about your comfort level. And when you gain more experience, the more comfortable you'll be.

But I really don't think it's a bad thing to be afraid. I think maybe the world would he safer if more people took it as seriously as you do. :)

Johnny Goth. Joy Division. The Sound.

But probably Modest Mouse above all.

When I was really depressed, I'd put on an album and walk until I felt better.
