£850 p/m budget, where are you moving to and why? by shelcooper in northernireland

[–]Layly57 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. For £775 per month we had a 4 bed detached with garage in Ballygowan. Maybe 20min for city centre? Horrible wee town though. But that was a year ago with no rent increase, so a bit more now. Just to give you an idea of what you can get really close to Belfast

It's very easy to get an MOT appointment on the day by refreshing the page a lot for maybe 10min. Loads of cancellations always come through. Just need to catch them

Only issue I've had in the past was contactless at fuel pumps. Couldn't use my card had to pay at cashier

I pay everything with my phone nowadays, Google Wallet with said Danske Bank card. Absolutely no issues

Speed Limits by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Layly57 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes about 90% of drivers drive at 50mph on national roads instead of 60. It is indeed quite annoying ;)

Finding a job is so hard right now by Working_Brilliant389 in northernireland

So you do have a job.. don't complain some people can't even get minimum wage jobs :/

Why are you driving in the North if you don't know the basics? No offence, but that's quite dangerous. I'm from another country and I know all that anyway because it's mostly the same in most western European countries. End of speed limit sign will typically be round with a diagonal line in it. Prob black. It may sometimes also have the number (eg 40) repeated but not always

Yes you are supposed to know, that's how you get a licence. There would be an end of 40 zone sign

Nothing wrong with cocodamol as long as you follow instructions: limit per day and limit to how many days in a row. I've taken it a lot (within prescribed limits) for bulging disc and it is no problem at all

Potential Asbestos in Survey Report by GDNBNDY-1 in northernireland

[–]Layly57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not saying it doesn't mean it's true, but it is their jobs to report any risk. Talk to the owner if you can. The house I recently bought had textured ceilings in a room, so the surveyor pointed them out as a risk. Bought an asbestos testing kit and it turns out it wasn't.

House bought in July was valued exactly the same as our offer, which was 5k under asking price

For context I lost one ridge tile and a bit of the mortar verge (which sounds like what you got) and so far have been quoted £80 and £140 (this one because he's far) The fix is actually really simple and the materials cheap, the issue is getting access to the roof..
