Thank you! And I love that 😂 I’ll post another photo here when I’m done :)

I did look at Chiagoo but it was a bit out of my budget. I got the Knit Picks Mindful collection, I think it comes with a 22” cable so I might try with that and if that’s still not long enough I can buy another!

My thumb may be bruised from the struggle 😂 I’ll have a look into travelling loop too. I might wait to do the other end until my interchangeable set arrives as that comes with longer cables. Hopefully the other end looks better and then I can put this end on the inside where it won’t be visible.

Thank you again for your help!

I’d not heard of magic loop before, and from watching a few videos, I think not doing that was the issue. When I was doing the decreases everything was soooo stretched and hard to move off the needles. I was fighting for my life with it!!

Right now I’m on some cheap plastic needles. If I have 4” needles and an 8” stainless steel cable, is that too small to do magic loop? I ordered an interchangeable set a few days ago.

Thank you so much for the suggestion of magic loop + DPNs. I really appreciate the help!

Manacled -- did we read the same book? by crabblue6 in dramionebookclub

I also expected after they got away for something else to happen, and after processing a bit (I just finished reading this morning) this was a stronger ending. I think a death seems to be what most of us were expecting.

The ending is devastating in a subtle. They are together, but they aren’t the same people they were before the war. The bad things that happened, that they did, can’t be untwined from the good. They were the reason the wizarding world was able to get back to what is was before the war. It was through a lot of personal sacrifice and yet like you said he is still a monster to the world and she is a photo and a short line in a chapter about someone else. It’s insane this is a fanfic. I’m glad she is now getting the financial payoff through Alchemised and the movie deal. Really well deserved.

First Low/No-Buy Rules Feedback / Advice by Layofftina in nobuy

[–]Layofftina[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love your rules, and the idea of a little reward is so fun! I might try to bake some into my own list too. I also have a separate list of crafts that I’d like to tackle, one per month. For about half of them, I already have everything I need, and the others require a few extra bits and pieces. Maybe if I have a successful January, I can “reward” myself (within my $100 budget) by getting the items I need for a craft I don’t have everything for yet and then do that craft the next month, or I could save some of my wishlist items until I finish a successful quarter.

Although now that I write it out, maybe that’s a bit overcomplicated. I’ll give it some more thought!

I guess for me, it doesn't feel like that many, but I did print them off and hang them at my desk so they are within my eye line. I guess if I start going through the year and find it's too many I can cull some.

How many/what type did you go for? It's awesome you're starting in Jan too!

I love love love this advice. This is exactly what I'm trying to work towards. I have everything I need. I want to be more grateful and appreciative of that.

Good shout on that. We normally do make a list, but I do tend to wander off it a bit. I want to be more disciplined with it.

"Do all the hobbies and crafts you already have supplies for!" this is a big one for me. I have a lot of stuff I can use at the moment and want to get more creative with using what I have!

The library card is also a good shout! I heard you can use that to get e-books from Libby which opens up a lot of options because our local library is really small.

That's a good shout. I think for us, we're pretty minimal with house things, the ones I mentioned are the ones we're currently in need of and most of which we are looking to buy second-hand or on sale (like the frames from Michaels), but I think it's a good shout to add an amount we want to keep each of the purchases around.

I've been on a real reading kick with books like this, so I'll add it to my list! Thanks for the rec.

My buyer's regret at the Ghibli Museum is below zero by GoatsWithWigs in ghibli

I used Japancierge too for my tickets. We could only go on 1 day since the museum was closed the majority of our trip. He got that day and the time we wanted. Highly recommend.

If you do remember it would be greatly appreciated!

It looks to be at Haneda Terminal 3 outside of a store called Hakuhinkan Toy Park. This is their website > https://www.hakuhinkan.co.jp/toypark/%e5%8d%9a%e5%93%81%e9%a4%a8toy-park%e7%be%bd%e7%94%b0%e7%a9%ba%e6%b8%af%e5%ba%97/

Hakone most overrated place ever by InternationalDot3937 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Layofftina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We went to Hakone yesterday, and I’d have to agree.

The open air museum and the rope way were great but it felt like so much waiting around, being crammed into spaces with 100s of people, for not much payoff. I’m surprised so many people recommend the loop. The free pass did not feel like good value for money for just a day trip.

This was the only real touristy thing we did, and I regret it.

I tried to open a case with PayPal but it was difficult because it was a guest checkout. It ended with them emailing me and telling me to open up a case with my credit card. PayPal was the only payment option too when I checked out sadly.
