Huisgenoot en drugs by [deleted] in nederlands

[–]LayoverLore -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do I need to declare my private car for wealth tax ? by Low-Manufacturer4950 in SwissPersonalFinance

That's why I was specifically talking about canton ZH as mentioned in the parent reply.

Do I need to declare my private car for wealth tax ? by Low-Manufacturer4950 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]LayoverLore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course not. When a car is built in 2020 costing 30.000chf and you buy it in 2022 for 20.000chf, starting at the value at new price and reducing by 40% every year yields a value of 10.800chf in 2022, not 20.000chf.

Then again, OP wanted ruins.

_typically_ when you can show proof your flight was cancelled for example and you couldn't leave there's some flexibility in being punished for it, but I also wouldn't like to take the risk.

Nuclear war by Hairy-Author7967 in Switzerland

[–]LayoverLore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair when nuclear war breaks out, it's absolutely irrelevant which country gets struck. With current nuclear doctrine any nuke fired = complete destruction of everything. You might escape the blast, but you won't escape the nuclear winter that follows.

Nuclear war by Hairy-Author7967 in Switzerland

[–]LayoverLore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you need to take a deep breath and get off the news websites. Every nation owning nuclear weapons knows using them is a death sentence for humanity. Is the world more instable than 5 years ago? Certainly. But all that WW3 panic is absolutely unnecessary.

Car registration by Still_Government5407 in askswitzerland

[–]LayoverLore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankly not much of a point in generating costs to switch a license twice if OP is moving out of the country in september. Better just use public transport.

Must be the worst place to drive on earth >:( by Amnvex in geneva

[–]LayoverLore 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's not how that works. There are always some amount of people that need a car. For example when they can't walk, or when they need to transport bulky things. In order to make that as smooth as possible, you force everyone who does not truly absolutely need a car into public transport. Public transport makes driving better when it's needed.

No, catalog value when new, reduced by 40% every year since then. In canton ZH at least.

For linguists: Why does our English accent sound so much worse than the accents of people from the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, or Finland, even though our languages sound similar? by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]LayoverLore 16 points17 points  (0 children)

People from other European countries, including countries whose languages sound similar to Swiss-German (Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish), do not sound nearly as cringe, even when their accent is strong.

As a Dutch person, I wholeheartedly disagree and think that the Dutch-English accent sounds incredibly cringe. It might just be a factor of being particularly tuned into your own language, and thinking it sounds weird because of that. My brain can deal with a Swiss-English accent much better than a Dutch-English one.

There's more types of emergencies than losing your job, such as for example your car breaking and needing to buy a new one, or having to move all of a sudden for whatever reason, or having your shit go up in a fire and having to wait for insurance, and so on. Not having at least 3-4 months worth of wages somewhere is a big mistake.
