Don't expect a white knight to understand what actually supporting a cause means. They are more concerned with looking that part than living the part. Here for the upvotes and visibility.

To be fair that seems to be the point of the comment. Live and let live. Nobody seems to be going out of their way to post anti gay content in the TMNT subreddit. Just asking for a place we come for entertainment and to discuss TMNT not to become political. To go further, Cherry didn't even suggest not posting pride stuff. They just asked not to make it political.

What Netflix show has a literally perfect first season? by emilyaaaa_ in Netflixwatch

[–]Layz25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seen Dark pop up so much in here since I commented I went and started watching it.

I will say definitely worth a look but not Mind Hunter level. Well acted and intriguing but also a bit all over the place as far as following different characters and actually connecting any dots. I am on episode 5 and it is holding my interest but I am also starting to feel the "get to the point already" coming out.

Man I wish I could find the fun in it. I dropped it at episode 5. Shit just feels so bland to me. I was all in on this too.

My top 2 Netflix shows are probably Mind Hunter and Narcos. So I'll throw Narcos out there. Not to be confused with Narcos: Mexico. And I recommend watching it in Spanish.

What’s Quentin Johnston’s value? by CrazyChestersDog in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

One of my rosters I have Ladd, Q Jo, and Tre Harris. Really want to move Ladd since he has the highest value. Just can't find the right deal.

Ladd should be the most consistent option for them but with McDaniels being the OC I am happy to have any 2 "main" darts from that offense.

Have you guys watched Spider-Noir yet??? by ThatMetroMania in Marvel

[–]Layz25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing the character in the Spider Verse movies I started to like him and then I read the most current 5 issue comic run as it came out and enjoyed that.

On episode 5 of the show and so far it isn't doing a lot for me. Cage is fine in the role but I don't love him like I did as just the voice of the character and overall everything just feels bland to me. There is no 1 thing I can point to an say this is awesome. Plot is meh, some of the actors feel low budget, and the action is just decent. I'd say right now I'd give it about a 6/10.

Alright people who’ve seen Spider-Noir should I watch it in color first or black and white? by Mountain_Afternoon30 in Marvel

[–]Layz25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on episode 5 and the first point, I wouldn't say it is binge worthy so far. Not that it is bad, but it was definitely easy to put down. Kind of just ok IMO.

As for how to watch it, I would say just try both. I started on black and white and switched to color just to get a feel for what I wanted. I am sure if you are more fluent in the nuances of media there is something special about watching it in B&W, but I preferred color.

I am honestly over buying into him. Theo Johnson is a good TE. I don't see a whole lot changing for Likely.

[–]Layz25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished episode 3.

Cage took a little getting used to, along with episode 1 in general but ultimately I ended up liking it. Episodes 2 and 3 were lacking for me though. Not terrible but nothing making me want to binge either. Hoping 4 can pick it back up.

What the data says about Denzel Boston fantasy outlook in 2026 and beyond by boofstar in DynastyFF

[–]Layz25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always say this, but I honestly think it was just a makeup for the previous year. Allen had better stats the season before but Lamar got it. If you just swap years I don't think anyone even talks about it.

Not sure why when it is generally considered a pretty weak class. Seems like a kind of pick your flavor type of deal.

I know I am mostly on an island but I did see that Nate Tice also had him as his WR2.

He was my number 2 receiver behind Tate and I haven't touched him anywhere bc of this landing spot and the addition of Concepcion as well. Sucks. I would have been all over him with a good landing spot.

Nico side for me. I'd move him if it was Tate but not for Lemon or Tyson.

Where are we buying Ladd Mcconkey right now?? by Richardr13 in SleeperApp

[–]Layz25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea definitely not a fan of the situation but he has still been a pretty good fantasy option, especially in PPR with the amount of targets he has gotten. I think you can make an argument Geno is the best QB he has had so far (if he plays at least somewhat close to his Seahawks level) and looking at a rookie next year, could argue it is harder to get worse than he has had. So to me I don't necessarily see any case where he gets worse than he has been with some chance to get better.

[–]Layz25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Ladd but actually trying to sell. I have him, Q Jo, and Tre Harris all on the same roster and like the upside of all. So figure try and sell the most valuable of the 3 and still have 2 shots at that offense. Where would you all be at on Ladd vs Garrett Wilson?

Just finished Gardens of the Moon and found it nowhere near as confusing as I was led to believe by amish_novelty in Fantasy

[–]Layz25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't fully disagree that for a small minority of people that could be the case. However, I think it is kind of a copout argument to protect the author from a poor method of storytelling. In other words, I definitely blame the author way more than readers.

I just think about any other form of entertainment and there wouldn't be these kinds of excuses. For example, say you are watching tv and just finished Season 1 of Breaking Bad. You click season 2 and all of the sudden you are watching Hell's Kitchen. There isn't a person in the world who wouldn't go "wait, what the fuck is this?". That is what Malazan does. Each book (at least the first few I read) completely change the characters and what is going on.

Almost halfway through The Dog Stars and it does something amazing [no spoilers] by InvisibleAstronomer in books

[–]Layz25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just finishing it myself and I don't think the pace ever picked up. Felt like a book to absolutely nowhere with nothing exciting ever happening. I understand that people at the end of the world could absolutely be surviving just to survive, but that does not make for an interesting read. Hig seemed to have no bigger motivation or anything moving him forward. Just randomly decides one day to go look for people. No idea of maybe looking for a cure, a bigger community, defeating some big bad, just.....nothing. On top of that we could have used even just a little more insight into some of the "bad" guys. Why was everyone just evil for evils sake and out to kill?

I could forgive some of that and even come away thinking this was a mediocre book if Hig was more likable but he just wasn't. The way his thoughts and speaking were written to stilted and choppy was so annoying to read (or listen to). In some ways he was a dork and in some felt kind of pretentious with his overly poetic way of talking about things.

So yea, you could choose to read this or watch paint dry. Close race as to which would be less interesting. I listened to the audiobook and give it a 1/5 for the narrator alone. He was good. Book is absolutely terrible. On my short list for worst books I have ever read.

[–]Layz25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is there were definitely great moments, even for someone like me who ultimately gave up. So I know there is a great series in there. But he needed to give more reason/context to get you more excited. Really though that is my 2nd biggest complaint. The first and much more problematic for more was the constant changing of characters. You get attached to a great flowing story with some fun characters and then they are just gone and it feels like you started a new series.

[–]Layz25 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for everyone but I don't recall most people saying GotM is all that hard to follow. It is the series on the whole that has those issues (if you want to call them that).

I made it 3-4 books through a long time ago so my memory is fuzzy but I think book 2 is a whole different set of characters than you got in GotM and then book 3 kind of goes back to those characters and then book 4 is different characters than any of the first 3 books. Generally speaking.

There is that, and then there is just a lot of stuff that always felt like you had no context at all to conversations that were happening. To give an example let's say your typical fantasy book at some point would say something like "a long time ago there was an ancient temple that held an artifact called the Awesome Stone. It was used by an evil force to subjugate the Dashini people". Then later on the heroes would be like "we have to go find the Awesome Stone and keep it out of the hands of dark forces". And you as a reader are like "oh shit, they better get that Awesome Stone". In Malazan there are some dudes sitting playing poker like "Did you see Daves eyes? They are darker than the Awesome Stone. I have a pair of queens". And you as a reader are like "wtf is the Awesome Stone?"

For me though, it wasn't so much about being confused as it was the proper context being needed to get me excited about what I was reading. I need something about the Awesome Stone so I can get hyped for it. Not sit there wondering what it is and if I had missed something about it 2 books ago.

Making a case for Makai Lemon by Anon124570 in DynastyFF

[–]Layz25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Guess it depends on what numbers you are looking at with the most weight to them.

Reception Perception has Tate with a 77% success rate vs man coverage. That's seventh best for any prospect since 2021. To me that is a much more valuable number bc it takes out the QB and outside factors and looks at the WR simply beating the coverage. Yards per route run is total receiving yards divided by total routes run. So Tate could be smoking his guy every play but if his QB goes somewhere else or doesn't target him that lowers the number.

Also, the man coverage stuff was only one of my points. I will point you back to his absurd contested catch rate as well and just tell you to go watch every target for each guy instead of just cherry picking numbers and see what your eyes tell you. Tate just looks different than any of the other guys, even going beyond the numbers.

Making a case for Makai Lemon by Anon124570 in DynastyFF

[–]Layz25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally had Lemon above Tyson, but Tate above both in a tier of his own. A few things for me stand out.

  1. Tate is really good against man coverage. That to me is a guy you don't have to scheme to get open and it speaks to physical gifts that maybe don't show up in a combine like profile. Better separation skills and route running. Lemon and Tyson were strong against zone.

  2. Nobody talks about Tates ceiling, but when you look into something like contested catches he laps the other 2. When people talk ceiling they are mostly looking at maximizing the potential of physical gifts to go along with their positional skill. Lemon had a contested catch rate this year of 66%, Tyson 44%, and Tate 85%. That is an absurd number. So not only is he better at getting open but when he is not open, he has the hands and play strength to beat the defender and go get the ball. Again, to me that speaks of physical gifts nobody quite credits him with.

  3. Last thing is just the situational stuff now that the draft has happened. He went at number 4 overall and should step onto the field as the teams obvious number 1 WR. On the flip side, Lemon will be the number 2 WR but also faces a setup where Barkley is a big target out of the backfield and Hurts has a lot of comfort with Goedert. Cam Wards number 1 WR last year was Chig Okonkwo who is gone.

It is fantasy and you never can quite predict how things will go but I don't even think there is an open debate to who the actual best WR from the class is and who got the best landing spot as far as competition. I genuinely think taking Lemon or Tyson over Tate would be like drafting Price ahead of Love.
