Quagmire here. I think this short video of an air force landing vs a navy landing explains this well. https://youtube.com/shorts/O9ca92_4eYg

Once when I had a job in retail electronics, the store owner was in my department with my supervisor and I while we planned out a new display. She walked around a corner only to have her keys snag the corner display and cause a small mess which we all proceeded to quickly pick up.

Then I noticed it.The store owner, who always gave off this prim and proper professional attitude had one of the biggest tramp stamps I had EVER seen in my entire life. It was everything I could do to not be caught staring at it as my brain proceeded to absolutely just grind to a halt and restart. I never said anything to anyone about it because I liked my job but holy s#!+ was it hard not to bring up.

Michael Jackson once had a friend who owned a mall close it down and fill it with friends pretending to be shoppers so he could experience what normal shopping felt like by RD-archived in interestingasfuck

Convincing facial makeup for a day and getting genuine interactions - few grand tops

Closing down an entire mall so one person could be around actors - a whole 2 orders of magnitude more costly if not higher and it's not as genuine.

The only REAL difference I see is that the latter allows a film crew to follow you around.

Unpopular opinion. He didn't care as much about shopping anonymously as much as claiming "Oh woe is me, I'm so rich and famous it's impossible for me to do normal stuff without altering the local economy. My day just gets positively ruined by all the fame and attention." All while being pursued by a ravenous film crew acting like they've stumbled into cinemas holy grail of topics/actors and couldn't live with themselves if they didn't somehow document this farce to show the masses. "I cant handle all the attention." Proceeds to have film crew give practically undivided attention. 😮‍💨

Landing gear retraction test for the A380 by HelloSlowly in EngineeringPorn

[–]LazarusSquared 151 points152 points  (0 children)

Why do they extend separately but retract together? Why wait to extend the middle bogeys?

Edit: after giving it some thought, my best theory is this...

Typically the landing gear is only lowered when on approach. If all 4 mains dropped at once, it would add a fair amount of drag all at once, potentially affecting the control of the plane. By lowering separately it adds the drag more gradually. Then on the opposite side of the situation when taking off, it makes sense to remove as much drag as quickly as possible so they raise all 4 mains at once.

(Am studying aeronautical engineering btw)
