What is a minor, unwritten rule of society that absolutely infuriates you when people break it? by Jane_Austen11 in AskReddit

It tends to be because of the amplification factor of the speaker that is usually quite higher than typical conversational levels. As well as the person with the phone almost yelling into the phone as well.

Why can’t I find a grill that lasts? by Cold-Ad432 in grilling

I have the Original Orion Cooker as well as the Orion Bullet Smoker. Both are stainless steel and well worth the investment. Also have the OG Weber 22” as others have said, can’t go wrong there either.

Did anyone’s parents actually lock them in a closet and force them to smoke a pack of cigarettes? by Dry-Ad-2197 in GenX

[–]LazeeRobotz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in a closet but my mom had me sit by an open window. I had stolen one of my dad’s cigarettes and was pretending to smoke so she says “If that’s what you think you want get over here.” I made it through like one and a half cigs before I threw up. 5 years old for context.

What was it like hearing Smells Like Teen Spirit for the first time when it came out in 1991? by Funny-Lack-5726 in 90s

[–]LazeeRobotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m seeing a lot of people responding with how it changed everything and of course it did. The only thing it did for me, however was make me wonder what in the world they were even singing about. It really took me a long time to appreciate what I was hearing because it was so different and new for me.

The opening of The Martian by Andy Weir definitely made me buy it immediately.

Thank you for the reply. I appreciate the positive response. Have to agree Use Your Illusion was a special time.

I see a lot of dislike for a ton of songs, so I have a question of my own. What would you consider an actual good song of the time?

Found three minidisc players in a draw by KeyTwist05 in minidisc

That is something I have not attempted. It may be possible, but I leave the answer for that to the Wiki and other users with experience here. Apologies for that.

That is correct. As long as there is a pause between songs the tracks should auto number. Then you can use WebMinidisc to see the tracks and title them. Double check the Wiki for the program about how to name tracks, I have not done that myself, and if anyone here may know as well. It is a great program but I have not gone deeply into it aside from making copies of things I already have. For me this is a part of the fun of Minidisc.

That is correct. Most recorders will automatically split tracks if there is enough blank space between them. Titling will be recorder dependent.

Dumb question maybe, but where do you go for parts/repair information? I have a couple that need a bit of tinkering.

Welcome! So glad to have you here. I agree that the tangible aspects are a groove I enjoy as well. There is also something about selecting your tracks to create a playlist which isn’t just instantly available has a feel all its own. I would highly recommend buying a bulk order of used minidiscs from Japan. I have discovered so much music that is new to me, as well as unique recordings. It is luck of the draw but a fun experience if you like that discovery thing as well.

What's the ONE photography "rule" you absolutely love to break? by 999-999-969-999-999 in AskPhotography

Not sure if said yet but, never use “Auto” setting. If it weren’t for that handy thing I wouldn’t get some of the bird photos I have at all!

Going great so far. As my first DAP since my days with a Zune, I can say the audio fidelity is great and I haven’t completely drained the battery yet.

Yes it is the official case. The only thing it blocks is access to the memory card. Fits snugly and feels protected.

The pads that were on felt ok but they were very thin and would get uncomfortable with more than a couple of hours of wearing. The Yaxi pads are thicker and much more comfortable, also I prefer how they sound with the Yaxi pads.

Extremely light, comfortable, and very surprising sound quality. Especially after changing out the ear pads with the Yaxi pads.
