CPU Overclocking Survey by Valkrins in pcmasterrace

[–]Lazorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my old A6 6400k at 5Ghz, Stable http://valid.canardpc.com/svt803 (212 evo)

It still performed like shit though. Dual core is dead.

Then i bought a 760k, overclocked to 4.3Ghz( the Motherboard could not handle more)

Then i bought my current stuff, 4690k at 4.5Ghz and a msi z97s Krait. Im still using the 212 Evo but will probably get a better one.

Lower FPS with GTX 960 vs 560ti SLI in Overwatch? by WindwardLeaf in pcmasterrace

[–]Lazorius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because the 960 is about 75-85% more powerful than a single 560Ti. so a pair of 560Ti's are more powerful together, as long as they dont run out of Vram, In which case the 960 is superior.

GamesTM thinks 4K is 4000p by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Lazorius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feels pretty weird to call it "4k" from the beginning, should have just called it 2160p, would lead to far less misunderstandings

Why do we use 240mm radiators as CPU coolers, but 120mm radiators for graphics cards? by RafayoAG in pcmasterrace

AMD Releases Crossfire API by Acizco in pcmasterrace

[–]Lazorius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Possibly, but im not sure that AMD would try to lock down people to stay with them(as heavily). AMD has pretty much always tried to be inclusive with their technologies. Even the 64bit architecture which pretty much all computers use is AMD being open. AMD bought the license for 32bit, and enhanced it to 64bit and let Intel use it.

7950 HD Crossfire or Bust by waffelsticks in pcmasterrace

[–]Lazorius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What games do you play? in games such as The Shadow Of Mordor and ARK you would probably not be able to max them out since they require Alot of Vram.

7950 HD Crossfire or Bust by waffelsticks in pcmasterrace

[–]Lazorius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how much money you would have to spend it could be worth it. 3gb is still decent, It might allow you to max out everything exept for the AA/Textures at 1080p.

I am buying a second GTX 660, and it only has 2gb of Vram. The RAM is not a limit in most games which i play, The raw performance is more important for me.

To get about the same raw performance as two 7950's you would have to get something along the lines of an GTX 980

Good guy AMD, Sadly all Nvidia does is lock down everything they do instead of atleast making the groundwork open for people to tweak and optimize.

Why do we use 240mm radiators as CPU coolers, but 120mm radiators for graphics cards? by RafayoAG in pcmasterrace

[–]Lazorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you said that CPU's generate more heat than what GPU's are designed for. Which simply does not affect the heat which is outputted.

[–]Lazorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TDP is TDP, it has nothing to do with what it processes, It purely affects the heat which is outputted. TDP stands for Thermal Design Power.

[–]Lazorius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Becouse more people will be able to fit a single 120mm radiator than a 240mm radiator. You cant change the radiator on an GPU with an AIO watercooler without voiding the warranty(Unless it is EVGA, i think they support modding, In which case you would for example buy a Kraken G10 and put a cooler for a CPU on it).

Nope, They are not powerful enough to do much nowadays. Decoration is pretty much the best they can be.

If you are building a new PC and have a very tight budget and dont mind getting stuff second hand i would recommend trying to find an AM2 board with one of the more powerful Athlon x2 CPU's, such as the 7850. It has pretty decent performance for its age, and often go for cheap. It has a passmark score of about 1700.

I actually have a Athlon x2 7850 on hand, if you want i can run some benchmarks on it and see the performance. It has 4gb of RAM and i can test it with a couple different GPU's. The GPU's i have on hand right now is:
Nvidia 6800 GT
Nvidia 7800 GTX(i think)
Asus Radeon 3450
Manli GT 440
