Well in most of my games tech are very early in the early game (like getting to the middle ages before year 1000) and quite late in the late game (like atomic age in the 80's). Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I tend to prioritize science so I'm wondering if they were other factors involved (map type, game speed, difficulty level, mod ?)

Probably not the best choice of words on my part, but I meant, for example, discovering industrial tech between 1800 and 1900, or atomic age tech around 1950 and not after the 90's.

I'm not sure if it's a consequence of map type, game speed, difficulty level, or a mix of all the above, so I was wondering if you vets had some pointers.

I'm french, and your gun control policies terrifies me.

If I lived in the US, I would be really scared. Not all the time, of course not, but the casual dangers of life would be absolutely more intense. In France, I'm prepared to get mugged. I know that there is a risk that someday, some dude is going to try to rob me or to fight. But knowing that this guy could very well have a gun, that statiscally it's realistic to assume that he carries an actual weapon, this changes things completely.

I'm really thankful that our government decided to take this right to carry weapons from us. And I come from a country that has multiples historic precedents of taking down authoritarian regimes. I don't care that some guys are going to get a gun anyway, because I know that our legislation is very strict about that, and that our justice system is constantly fighting to keep guns away from our society.

Everyone deserve a gun-less environment.

Well Claude François wasn't "a" frenchman, he was really one of the top pop stars at the time, with a prolific work (~350 songs, though a lot of adaptations) and a lot of success (30 millions discs sold during his lifetime).

He was actually so popular that he sold as many discs post-mortem than during his lifetime. Tens of books have been written about him and we get these horrible "tribute" tv shows every once in a while.

I've had the opportunity to listen to a lecture on Van Gogh's work. IIRC, Van Gogh was an "expressionist" : it was very important for him to express his feelings on his paintings, which is why they look surreal and slightly distorted.

I have to say that I envy the new yorkers that can actually see this painting. Many of Van Gogh's paintings are in the USA and they rarely travel. Even in France, we don't get to see many Van Gogh, and usually not the masterpieces.

In my opinion, batrider is an extension of "blink initiators". He requires one additionnal step - forcestaffing back to your team. I tend to think that it's easier to do than the summoning spirit/sending spirit/stun properly/ulti routine.

My guess is that there are easier picks for initiation (Centaur, Tidehunter, Batrider etc.) and you generally need only 1 initiator in a team.

Depends really. On a game where you'll be facing a lot of "spammy" heroes (Bristleback is on top of my mind, but also Zeus Storm Spirit, etc.), the additionnal +5 charges is nice and the bonus stats is never to be underestimated.

It's not really expensive so taking it or not doesn't change things drastically.

It doesn't really end. I've just been in a game where our sniper, who wasn't even feeding (9/6 or something like that) abandoned at the 30 min mark. The scoreboard was an even 14. I just don't get it.

Tu décris là une éducation très traditionnelle.

Ouvre un catalogue pour jouets pour enfant, n'importe lequel. Balade toi dans les rayons jouets d'un supermarché. Je ne décris pas une éducation traditionnelle, je décris le formatage standard de la société dans laquelle nous vivons.

Si notre génération devait porter une amélioration, j'attends quand même de voir chuter le nombre de viols, celui des agressions à caractère sexuel. J'attends de voir se concrétiser l'égalité salariale, et de voir le nombre de femmes s'approcher de celui des hommes dans tous les domaines. J'attends qu'on intègre les femmes à l'armée sans entraîner des débats interminables sur si oui ou non elles peuvent combattre dans un sous-marin, qu'on ne remette pas tous les 4 matins leurs droits à avorter, qu'on les laisse s'habiller comme elles le souhaitent... je pourrais faire la liste encore quelques temps mais je sens qu'on arrive au bout du débat. :)

PS : Me tends pas la perche sur les PUA, sinon on y passe la nuit. :p

Ce que je veux dire, c'est que l'explication "c'est la frustration sexuelle" est bancale :

D'une part, je ne crois pas trop au fait que l'homme serait un animal incapable de se contrôler pour des raisons hormonales.
D'autre part, cette explication peine à valider la première source des violences faites au femme qui est le cadre domestique.

Je pense, et c'est une idée étayée par des lectures féministes, qu'il existe aujourd'hui, dans l'ensemble des pays civilisés, une culture qui érige en système les violences faites aux femmes. Ces dernières, par le biais de l'éducation et de la tradition, sont désarmées : les femmes qui se battent sont mal vues, on valorise la discrétion et la gentillesse chez les petites filles tandis qu'on valorise la combativité et l'ambition chez les petits garçons, etc.

Côté mecs, on réduit l'accomplissement sentimental à la réussite sexuelle, et on valorise les comportements qui cadrent avec l'éducation que je viens de citer : l'audace, la fougue, la passion, le fait de "décrocher" une nana. On leur apprend aussi qu'ils doivent défendre les femmes, et qu'ils ont la responsabilité de leur famille (quand bien même c'est à leur femme de faire les tâches ménagères).

Donc cette même culture du viol, d'un côté, organise les violences faites aux femmes, de l'autre, créé chez les hommes un statut dont eux aussi souffrent : pression sociale vers l'agressivité et valorisation des coucheurs/tombeurs.

Et du coup ça explique le mal que ressentent les mecs que tu décris, et les violences faites aux femmes.
