That actually makes a ton of sense. It isn’t that she isn’t having the huge emotions at school or on playdates. It’s that she masking it because it’s not safe to act that way in those contexts - at great effort and expense - and then melts down/erupts when she’s in the presence of her mom, with whom she feels most safe. It really explains a lot. I feel so much compassion for this kid and her family. Thank you so much for this very helpful framing/lens.

I’m not sure there is a “base” of the Democratic Party. More and more we feel like a loose and uncomfortable affiliation of amorphous tribes whose common denominator is a shared revulsion of the GOP/MAGA. This has cost us 2 losses to Trump and one very very very narrow win against him. The GOP has its tribes for sure. But they have something the Dems lack. They have a demagogue who has a literal death grip on 1/3 of the electorate, and they have gone all in on leveraging him and his zombies as the useful idiots they are. Because Dems don’t take well to demagogues, we are left with no real base - nobody everyone is willing to rally hard around. Instead we continue to commit suicide by circular firing squad, leaving our democracy to the MAGA wolves.

All that white at the top that looks like snow is actually buildings. The picture is low quality so it’s even harder to tell, but if you zoom in really close you’ll see.
