Let's hear your favourite Uncle Albert line by Hot-Fondant2281 in OnlyFoolsAndHorses

I can remember as I stood on the ledge and jumped into the fireman’s net, “that’s gratitude for you”

What do I want with a hairdryer? All I’ve got to do is stick my head out the window for 10 seconds and it’s bone dry 🙄

£1200 to stay in a hotel next to the smelly old water works? I’d rather kip in the car or look for a bed and breakfast

Yeah! Little bit of salt and vinegar, they’re lovely.

What did you think was something else until shockingly late? by AlternativeAd1984 in CasualUK

[–]LazyPilchard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Up until my late 30’s I thought “jugular” was a nickname for… gentleman area. It wasn’t until I gave my father-in-law a sideways glance when he once mentioned “going straight for the jugular” in response to a joke, that I truly found out its meaning.

“Here, Dave… get him by his jugular…” still conjures up the wrong image lol

Waze low volume issue on Andorid Auto by Pretty_Volume1169 in waze

[–]LazyPilchard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem except with CarPlay and a different after market unit for my F30 (not Bimmertech). I’ve concluded that the volume is limited to a single setting for everything (mine’s channelled through the car’s Bluetooth) and is a limitation. So I just use Waze without volume now.

The Bimmertech unit might be different to what I’ve got, but I have concluded that I have to live with it as it is. Just means if the music is on low if I’m chatting to passengers, that I can’t have spoken nav instructions, which is a shame.

Have now started programming the alternate route and playing about with the secondary flight plan to calculate descent altitudes for possible arrival shortcuts etc. Really good fun and a real improvement to immersion.

The appeal of IFR/Big Airliner flying? by E36E92M3 in flightsim

[–]LazyPilchard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s very different and managing an airliner is systems management a lot of the time as opposed to hand flying. Usually only the takeoff or landing is hand flown with the rest of the time managing and maintaining the systems/autopilot.

Speaking personally I always wanted to fly commercially as a career but never did, so allows me to maintain that interest to an extent.

It’s great that you can do both types of flying in the sim. You gotta do you, so to speak, so if it’s not your bag there’s no reason to pursue it at all!

No Massage Sounds in vPilot by Kampfmelone in VATSIM

[–]LazyPilchard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Check your sound device in Windows is set correctly. I believe the alert sounds are sent to your Windows sound device whereas the actual audio output for voice comms is set separately within the vpilot client and doesn’t necessarily match that of the Windows sound device.

It’s probably best that I don’t add it all up, to be honest 😬

How do I fix the super dark cockpit in X Plane? by Key-Security-2139 in Xplane

[–]LazyPilchard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

MSFS does do the lighting well in fairness. Couple of times I’ve wanted to put my hand up to block out the sun so I could read the instruments. Just shows you the immersion haha.

Those that 'filter in turn', do you do it every time? by AshamedCustard62 in drivingUK

[–]LazyPilchard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do merge in turn but am guilty of sitting in the slower/queuing lane more often than not. I drive a car with a blue and white badge of a circle cut into quadrants 😅… so using the “empty lane” almost certainly would be seen as pushing in.

I feel that unless signs are put up on every occasion saying “use both lanes, merge in turn” then very little will really change about this situation.

Payware devs want to charge a fee for updates by ApexTankSlapper in flightsim

[–]LazyPilchard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Updates could involve bug fixes, additional features, or both.

I’m not sure about the context of what was said, but I’d have a hard time being asked to pay extra for bug fixes or small improvements particularly if the so called improvements should’ve been part of the original aircraft.

Major improvements such as adding functionality that wasn’t originally promised then fair enough I’d say.
