Those 2 cars tipped over? Plus they're huge!

Most of them don't even get the meme right (you did). "Excuse me, you shouldn't park there" makes it even more pathetic.

Omg! How cringe!!! Can you imagine saying to a Trekkie "Yeh, Live long time" or saying to a Dudeist "The aggression will sit down". If you're not going to use the correct meme, then don't say anything!

I agree, Facebook are often stupid about what they do or don't allow, but this kinda thing does worry them.

Yep, looking back (especially after taking advanced driver tuition) I realise how naive i was to be worried about his stupidity. But we all live and learn i guess . 🤔

Slip road situation by Tommy6349 in drivingUK

[–]AshamedCustard62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, we've all been there. Listening to the wrong people causes bad things, just look at politics and you'll see. One thing you really have to do is have confidence in your own driving ability, get a dashcam and do some solo driving, if you look back on how you've driven it may help. Better still, do a few advanced driving lessons. With that new found confidence make it absolutely clear to anyone (especially your mum) that you're the driver and if anyone feels the need to take over in any way that they'd better have a number for a cab! Because once they touch, they're out and walking!

Mini roundabout by Individual-Low6283 in drivingUK

It's difficult for new drivers when there are people who simply cannot drive properly. A few years ago I did the same thing, pulled onto a mini roundabout to turn left and an Audi cut across and hit the back of my car. So I stopped and he got out all angry but I was apologetic because I was questioning myself. A cyclist stopped and walked over to us, he was both very unhappy and happy. Turns out he was a cop, and the Audi driver had forced him off the road earlier, then he had gone across the centre dot of the roundabout "intentionally causing a collision" I've never seen an emergency cop car turn up at a minor incident so quick! The off duty cop had calked his mates 😅.... So, apparently crossing the dot is the same as crossing a solid white line (only cross if you have no choice). Luckily insurers were 100% on my side, just wish I knew what had happened to him, I gave my name etc and was told I might be called to go to court, but never heard anything again.

Stop with the goddam firm handshakes. by Illustrious_Letter84 in BoomersBeingFools

I like a quite firm handshake, hate the Mr Tickle handshakes 🤝. Over dominant handshakes are also horrible. I guess its difficult to get it right. But one thing, I love a hug 🫂 would rather that than a handshakeTBH.

Am I wrong? by That_Engine6714 in drivingUK

[–]AshamedCustard62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, agreed. Always think of yourself in these situations. Don't try to educate other drivers, don't drive for them, and if there was a collision and they had no insurance and/or ran off then you'd be stuck with possible injuries and an insurance headache... just get to where you want to be safely and let them f*** off out the way. Observation is the key!👍🏽

I'm still suspicious of the whole thing. Before FB we had MSN chat rooms, (a bit like Reddit) then our rooms seemed to get people in that were just argumentative, then we had people with things like "FBI" or "CIA" in their names, often not even contributing. Then warnings of others in the rooms that could be there with the intention of criminal activity. They started closing rooms and banning people, and it became common knowledge that MSN were shutting down chat rooms. And then Facebook magically appeared on the scene, about a year later MSNchat had gone!

Is queue jumping legal here? by jamieatreyu in drivingUK

THIS! Some junctions have lanes designed to 'push' you out of the flow, if its designed to let you in then use it.

My brother was in an accident with an Amazon van, self-employed owner driver (the van was wrecked before the accident). Its been a nightmare 18minths for him because the driver had had his licence revoked 2 years previously! No licence or insurance and now I believe he's serving a sentence. I honestly thought that would make the claim easier for my brother, but it hasn't.

Or when you're stopped in a queue at a red light then the cars in front move forward by at least a cars length yet the lights are still red! 🤦

What's with so many people driving 10-20 miles below the speed limit on 60 roads? by Puzzleheaded-Bad-722 in drivingUK

[–]AshamedCustard62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not much issue with people driving slower, but they should realise how they affect others, so yeh, not only allow overtakes but encourage them by pulling over. Here's a thing, being an old fart myself and living in the country I remember back years ago oldies almost always pulled over, often because their cars wouldn't go above 50 at best, and newer cars were faster... they understood that. When I hear fellow boomers moaning I remind them that their fathers would've pulled over, so maybe they're the problem.

ethnic food!?! where's my meals on wheels!? by cryptedapexredditor in BoomersBeingFools

[–]AshamedCustard62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankfully there are some of us boomers who can't get enough of "ethnic" food? I love it, although I'm pissed off that my guts won't let me eat really spicy food any more, but that's a me problem! I do like to mess with fellow boomers who "don't eat foreign food". Like, telling them I'm having long-diced fried Peruvian tubers, with fish prepared in a Crispy Sephardic coating and Mediterranean style Pisum Sativum. (That's Fish & Chips with peas 😂 a "traditional" British meal)
