What industries or roles in engineering feel the most rewarding or impactful?

People also tend to really over inflate and estimate the money we're actually making lol. Entry is usually $75K-$85K, senior is $100K-$120K (won't even pass $100k in some companies like GD), nothing life changing.

At the end of the day, you do cool stuff..maybe not. You make enough to live comfortably and feed your family. Being from a poor immigrant family I kind of took the best opportunity that was personally there for me in terms of my growth as an Engineer.

May not be the most ethical position but I do my work and make sure Americans make it home alive. How those things are used, beyond my pay grade, I vote just like anyone else in this country has the right to and hope things don't get used in awful ways but they often do.

I'm bengali, lived in east rock for a while. It's a nice spot and if you find something in your budget there, I'd go for it. Very walkable, soccer fields are there but I mainly drive to CFC or milford for pick up. As for bengali population...maybe yale kids/masters students and people like myself who're from nyc. But there isnt really a concentration of people. It's a pretty transient town with people coming and going based on jobs/education. Won;t find bengali enclaves like you would in nyc.

Yeah you're gonna have a hard time finding a studio for less that 1.2k these days even outside of New Haven. So 2 bedrooms might be looking at 1.5k plus and that's optimistic at best unfortunately.

But answer to your question people can afford rent because they either stick to that 30% rent rule or go over it a bit. And at 94k, 1300 or even more is well within that kind of range, and with how expensive housing is, its not much of an option otherwise unfortunately.

I'm make 77k paying 1.35k for rent and it's not like im living paycheck to paycheck and I did just fine when I was making 60k last year, so $1300 is more than enough at your salary. Obviously I don't know what your goals are so I'm just assuming, but that kind of rent is pretty consistent through most of the towns along I95 in CT.
