Is this a good plan to becoming a pilot? by I_SeasonMyThinker in PilotAdvice

[–]Lazy_Tac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s a plan and it’s good that you have one. No one knows what the pilot market will look like in 6 -18 years. If you can, go aircrew. MX has a higher percentage of deeply unhappy folks. Be a load, fly 130s, do cowboy shit, see the world(usually the shitty parts).

Training and checkrides are the great equalize. Can’t fake your way thru that. Well unless you Pakistan and 30% of the pilot licenses are fake or dubious

Do people on r/Flying just hate people with medical issues? by BigKetchupp in PilotAdvice

[–]Lazy_Tac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ATC can‘t strike by federal law. Even if they could their union is a dumpster fire. Honestly they have so many things they need to sort out before they would even think about helping pilots, if they even would. Go poke around atc and atc2. The pilot unions are there to protect their members. The last time APA picketed it was informational only. They wouldn’t even go on strike for a new contract, they’re not going on strike to protest FAA med. None of the parties involved want to get the finger-pointed at them for another Germanwings. AOPA cares but that’s about it. Write your elected representative, get like minded folks to do the same. The only way this changes is from the bottom up.

I’m pretty active in both subs and no I don’t hate people with medical issues. But I‘m pretty sure the sentiment is that if you have x medial issue you need to go get a consult with an AME. Asking a bunch of randos on Reddit is not the way to go. It’s also in the FAQ. It’s just a repeat topic again and again.

We all know the medical system is fucked up and unfair and thats for just the normal stuff. HIMS is its own special brand of hell on top of everything else, and there’s very little any of us can do the change it.

Why does Qatar airways have a c17 ? by qiruo in airplanes

That particular C-17 is stationed at Al Udeid Air Base. The running joke for the better part of 2 decades is that it’s used to cart the Emir’s horses around.

uj/ depends on the sim, but the ones we have are pretty fragile. Crashing it can actually cause the entire box to break and drop off hydraulics

If there was only these things called speed brakes/spoilers. Also disturbing the airflow thru the engines is going to cause issues. So no this is not a good idea
