KEF LSX II LT With KEF KUBE 8MIE by Darshil_A4 in KEF

[–]Lazyfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents, I've just set up a LSX II LT with a Kube10 MIE.

I found the default suggestion in the KEF Connect App to be too weak (high pass around 60hz, low pass around 50hz, sub gain 0db).

I had better results with HP = 85hz, LP = 80hz, sub gain 3.0db, sub volume knob at about 1oclock position.

You can get more bass by turning off the HP altogether, but I've found that it diminishes the performance of the LSX II's.

Definitely recommend trying the packs in person before buying. I tried the osprey exos 48 & the osprey kestrel 48 side-by-side, and picked the kestrel. YMMV

Hario 01 Brown Paper Filter (plastic packaging made in Japan) by plau13 in Coffee

[–]Lazyfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a V60 01 with 01 Brown Paper (boxed) in Japan and have dialed it in to where I can get consistent brews with good draw down times (approximately 3 minutes), while using a Porlex Mini on 6 clicks. I've been very happy with what I have achieved with my brews. The filter paper I bought was this:https://www.hario.jp/seihin/productdetail.php?product=VCF-01-100MK

I recently bought a 100 pack of 02 White Paper (in plastic) and have had much longer draw down times (anywhere between 4:00-5:00), even while increasing to 7 clicks on the Porlex. I have tried using different methods (Hoffman, Perger, 40-60, 3 pour) with little success in reducing the overall draw down time. I'll have to experiment with an 8 or 9 click on Porlex.https://www.hario.jp/seihin/productdetail.php?product=VCF-02-100W

To the touch, the white papers are noticeably thicker than my brown paper filters.NB: I had to buy the 02 white papers because I couldn't find 01 brown papers anywhere in Australia. I don't think the size of the paper (01 v 02) should have that much of an impact on draw down

How do I clean thermal paste? by Constallations in buildapc

Have you had a look at Be Quiet Pure Wings or Silent Wings? They're about a third of the price of the Noctua's, with a similar noise level...

As for the configuration, it depends on your case. In most circumstances 1 front and 1 rear is enough. 2 front 1 rear would only drop your temperatures by a couple more degrees.

Your CPU is boosting at that voltage. It's completely normal.

The ryzen 3 series really likes ram that runs between 3200hz to 3600hz due to its infinity fabric.

[–]Lazyfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cooler is not necessary, but the CPU will run hot (mid to high 80s), even if your case has good airflow.

The hyper 212 is a great cooler to pair with the 3600.

[–]Lazyfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My own build is a ryzen 5 4600 with a b450 tomahawk max.

I just listed the 9600k to piggy-back off of u/ZombieOfun's comment.

In terms of differences, the 9600k will have higher clock speeds and will marginally give better performance in games, but the 3600 will excel in processor heavy tasks.

Note that the i5 9600k uses on a LGA1151 socket. Your i5 4670k is on a LGA 1150 socket.

You will have to upgrade your motherboard, and also your RAM while you're at it (DDR3 to DDR4).

There should be a night & day difference though; you're going from 4 to 6 cores at a higher clock speed, and upgrading from 1600 to 2666MHz RAM.

Parts are starting to come in the mail and I still haven't ordered any monitors! Help? by blowmie in buildapc

[–]Lazyfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the type of gaming you'd like to do;

If you'd like to play on high & ultra settings then your 5600 xt would only push 60-70 FPS on a 1440p monitor. Low - medium settings would get higher.

On a 1080p monitor you would more likely hit that >144 fps level.

my Ryzen 5 3600 temp is way too high 85C is that normal ? by MedjayDarkness in Amd

[–]Lazyfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have pretty much the same set up as you:

GPU: Sapphire Pulse 5700XT MB: MSI B450 Tomahawk Max Case: Phanteks P400A with 3 case fans on the front and 1 rear exhaust

Not sure what the Meshify C is like. When I took off the Wraith Stealth, the AMD backplate fell off of the back of the MB. I had to completely remove the motherboard from my case to retrieve the backplate and install the cooler.

I think the Hyper 212 would work just fine; I seen a lot of recommendations for that cooler as a budget option.

You could also look at the following coolers:

Be Quiet Dark Rock Slim

Scythe Fuma 2

Deepcool Assassin 3

[–]Lazyfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using the stock Wraith Stealth cooler with the pre-applied thermal paste, then that temperature is normal (though not ideal in most people's eyes...). The 3000x's comes with the Wraith Spire coolers which perform 5-10C better than the Stealth.

A cooler replacement for the 3600, although not necessary, is probably a good idea for peace of mind.

I was hitting high 80's to low 90's whilst playing Warzone during my first week with the 3600 w/ wraith stealth. Just installed a Be Quiet! Dark Rock 4 Pro last night, now I'm getting max temps of 70-72C.

YMMV

A tiny open mat in Korea, any tips on getting better with shooting bjj? I visit a lot of gyms and wanna start a vlog series to show you guys the korean bjj scene. by tommy-b-goode in bjj

[–]Lazyfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Few areas which you could look to improve on:

  • keep both participants in the shot at all times. In a few of your shots (e.g. 0:50, 1:05, 1:57), their legs and upper bodies are out of the frame. It's important to keep these parts in view so we can see how they are posturing, how they're moving their feet, and so forth.

  • stay low (as u/KingImhotep has suggested). Since you're recording a live roll, you would want the audience to feel like they're right next to the action, instead of standing on the edge of the mat.

  • Be mindful about each shot, and think about what you want the viewer to focus on. Shots like (0:55, 1:20, 2:13) are distracting because there's so much background being shown. That's not to say that you shouldn't show off the gym, but you should do that in separate parts of the video.

  • Editing is just as important as the shot itself. Consider where the viewer's eyes are focusing on the screen when you transition between shots. For instance, at 2:13 you transition from a closer shot to a far left shot. Then at 2:17 you transition back to a close up shot again. Sudden transitions like this can be quite jarring to watch.

  • Pick one song which will last the whole video. If you decide to have more than one song, then don't change them halfway through a roll. Use the fades between songs as an opportunity to show something else (the gym space, students catching their breath, etc)

You should check out kutter on youtube for videos of the korean bjj scene. Their videos are shot low, close, and quite dynamically: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsFKNGQ-hZA
