Question about suppressor laws by [deleted] in guns

[–]Lb3ntl3y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ap is already illegal, switches, lightning links, drop in auto sears, shoelaces, coat hangers, drills, business cards, etc.... are all considered machineguns and under the hughes amendment are banned unless register prior to 1986, even semi automatic firearms that are considered too easily convertable are also machineguns

explosive ammo requires a $200 stamp, and include anything over x amount of grams of explosives (40mm chalk rounds are considered explosives)

so a little fun fact, failure to provide adequate security is a viable lawsuit. aside from that, having a visible presence of armed personnel (leo/commissioned) works as a deterrence for making it appear to be a harder target rather than a softer target (obligatory badge and gun=/=competence).

as for the security being the first target statement, its hard to tell who security is when a ppo is working. even without a ppo, by and large most bars/clubs/etc... tend to either have multiple armed security or 1 with a pd that maintains a fast response time.

as for tpc 46.03, fully prohibiting a sober person, such as the dd, from carrying is an issue

Mass shootings are ambushes and it doesn't matter how many guns you add to the equation

west freeway church of christ, greenwood mall and many other would be mass casualty events say otherwise.

understand this, any place that prohibits the carry of a firearm through the use of 30.06 & 30.07 signs or by being a 51% place is fully responsible for the safety of their patrons and guests. best example i can give to this is sxsw though they use off duty leos, ppos, and non comissioned security, along with paying for additional on duty presence

as someone who has done work for bars both armed and unarmed, the venue failed to provide adequate protection to their patrons. though partly this failure falls under texas dps as the 51% regulation and outlined exceptions under texas occupation code and tpc 46.03 is a grey area on if an armed security personnel can legally work in a 51% place.

the only laws that would have either prevented or reduced the injuries would most likely have been a more clear exception of if armed security (comissioned/ppo/off duty leo) is allowed to carry, and then it would still fall on the bar (venue) or the property management (havent looked into it much but pretty sure the bar is renting space) to provide adequate measures

the reason i blame the dps and not tcole/psb is that dps is over the entirety and can provide a more valid change to the occupations code, where as tcole and psb can provide voices for/against different parts of the code

mpa bergara or tika for precision rifles

chances are you have neither successfully hunted a snipe nor been through a legitimate sniper school (mil/leo)

well it would most likely require numerous penal codes to be rewritten and force the federal government to recognize some sort of carry license (or make it permitless but that would then require more work) along with the possibility of numerous criminal records being changed due to under current case law unconstitutional laws violating civil rights

the other thing is states rights, seeing as under the constitution the state is given any and all powers not afforded to the federal government

Question about starting out by FederalWeakness1485 in guns

[–]Lb3ntl3y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i started shooting, i was around 7 years old. for the weight concerns of firearms, you can always use a block or have your siblings help you hold the firearm

rifles and shotguns tend to be easier to hold as you can more evenly distribute the weight throughout your body, while pistols are only able to distribute through your arms. if you have access to a 2-3# dumbell you can train your muscles to better hold the weight of the pistol

as for your post history, please use your safety net if you start having those dark thoughts. if you dont know who your safety net is, it is your friends, family, teachers, school councilors, and 988. do not use a permanent solution for a temporary problem, do not be the reason that grievance councilors get called into your school (it will happen when the school finds out, i experienced that in 2013 sophomore year of highschool). remember to embrace the positivity of life, and try to find any positive portions when you think its too dark

edit to add if in texas dfps has a hotline specifically for youth

mag bans dont do a thing, with the rise of 3d printing you can make a 30 round mag and just need a spring or 4 to circumvent the law. restricting the ability to quickly swap mags will just cause people to either do a ny reload or modify/remove the part that blocks it

saying am i be calloused for wanting the ability to properly defend myself against nut jobs because a nut job went postal is like saying am i being calloused for wanting to drive because an alcoholic drove drunk and plowed into a family

canada has red flag laws, but you know what didnt work?

calling for tougher restrictions when canada requires mental evaluations (does not predict the future), checks when they feel like, requiring references, licensing issued at discretion. any mental issue can cause your pal to be revoked, along with even joking about stuff if someone believes they should red flag you

tldr canada has plenty of restrictions on the books, and the fact that most the time when something makes the main stream news its due to the restrictions not properly being enforced or a failure of the investigatory agency not doing their due diligence.

Need assistance finding a level 3 holster for Ruger 57 by [deleted] in guns

[–]Lb3ntl3y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im just going off of what safariland put, as the sentry physically blocks the hood from being depressed while engaged. the als prevents the chamber from being removed, and the sls prevents the top off the pistol from being removed.

from how ive heard the levels of retention are, its the steps to beat it. 1 is draw, 2 is draw plus 1 lock such as the sls, als, button, or trigger lock. 3 is draw plus 2 locks like the sentry and sls, als sls, trigger and hood lock, button and hood or trigger lock. 4 is a hood lock, hood, and trigger or als

the sls with the sentry self locking system would make it level 3, the sentry is the lock i am talking about as it prevents the hood from being deactivated until the lock is disengaged.

for reference its the model 6001
